Something Sweet by Maddie Lu

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. Stopped in and got the chocolate covered strawberry cupcake and some macaroons.
The cupcake is small for the price of it and while tasted not bad. Hint, the bakery should really destem the strawberries. Since had to pull the strawberry off to even eat it. Also the cupcake tasted to me personally like a boxed cupcake mix.
The macaroons looked soo good but were bland and had no distinct taste of flavors which was really disappointing.
Really wanted to like this place but this will be one and done for me.

I had received a cake from Something Sweet to celebrate my college graduation in May. The cake itself tasted amazing; however, when my mother went to pick it up, the frosting had been smeared around the cake. When I had initially reached out, I received a quick response, and I was impressed with the communication. However, after I was asked to send photos, which I did, I never received a follow-up response.

Given the cost of the cake, I would have expected it to be in good condition at pickup. Additionally, the ribbons on the cake were not the color we had agreed upon, which would have been completely understandable if there had been prior communication about the change before purchase or pickup. I am only leaving this review now after coming across the email thread while going through my inbox. Overall, I am disappointed in the principle of the situation and the lack of follow-through rather than the outcome itself.

I Love Sweets by Maddie Lu. I just had the BEST cake of my entire life!! I always go there for the perfect treat because their cupcakes are so amazing. I placed a special order for a cake, and it came out perfect!! It was so delicious. The cake was so soft, the frosting was so fluffy, this was truly the BEST CAKE I ajve ever had!! I am so impressed, I had no idea cake was supposed to taste like that. It was a confectionery perfection 🎂🍰🧁😋 I should have doubled my order because everyone wanted more. I can definitely see why the owner has been featured on the Food Network🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏

This cake not only looks so amazing it was the best tasting cake I have ever had! Red velvet with cream cheese 😍This cake was the perfect touch to the Taylor swift party theme

Fantastic product and GREAT customer service. They went out of their way to assemble a custom order of Christmas cookie gift bags for me . So accommodating

I ordered a Thanksgiving pie here - the pistachio raspberry cream pie - and wow was that ever amazing!! Not my first time here as I’ve ordered cakes and macarons and cookies etc in the past. Always so tasty and easy to order online and really nice folks when I’ve gone to pick up.

We ordered the mini cupcakes and did our wedding cake. The cupcakes were AMAZING and I could not be happier with them. The wedding cake was beautiful and looked just like the picture I sent. I would recommend Something Sweet to anyone 😊 Very pleasant to work with and great cake and cupcakes!

They were so helpful making same day gender reveal cupcakes! I brought in the envelope and they filled 3 cupcakes in 20 min to make my reveal with family so fun. Also the cupcakes were fantastic!!!

We tried the Macarons and a cookie as a treat for Father's Day. Honestly, super overpriced for 5 Macarons. They were that NOT that great. It immediately crumbled into pieces, almost as if they were old and stale. Very disappointing for $14 plus the 6th one I bought. The flavors we selected really didn't actually taste like those flavors except the lemon. They should soft and chewy not brittle. My dad tried the Raspberry Cheesecake Cookie and threw half away as he said it was way entirely too sweet and he likes sweet stuff. Finally, I also purchased stickers to take back to NC for my kiddo, one didn't make it in to the bag so that's also disappointing. Bakery also looked dirty. I would not recommend this place to any friend or family in the area. Very disappointing!

They just opened at 12 and they have no cakes in the case.

Best cakes ever!!!!

My daughter was so excited for a Oreo cake for her birthday but yet we ended up so disappointed. The cake was beautiful but very dry on the inside and frosting did not feel smooth, the oreos were suggy and the price was outrageous for what we got. So awhile back I called to inquire about purchaseing an oero cake but was told the cake is on the menu and it is always avail and no need to order ahead. My daughter and I stopped by to look at their cakes and talk to the staff about ordering one on Wednesday and we wanted to pick up on Saturday afternoon for the Sunday party. Which we were told this cake is one they carry and they always have one so no need to order a head of time.
The cake we saw had a smudge on it and we didnt buy it because it was too early but I took a picture of it to show it to my husband. We were told by the staff to come on Friday afternoon because the baker has all the cakes ready for the weekend. When we showed up on Friday afternoon the same cake with the smudge was there. I asked the staff this is the same cake from Wed and she said yes no one has purchased it yet but I told her I want one that was made more recent and she said we have to sell this one before bringing another one. She told me the cake was made on Tuesday and it is still good to consume but she refused to tell what is their shelf life policy. Anyways, I ended up buying the same cake because my daughter wanted a oreo cake and since we planned to purchase one from them we didnt have time to look for another bakery. The staff told me that when you take home put it in the friedge until couple hours before serving and we did that. Unfortunately, the cake was very dry and the frosting consistency was not right. The oreos were suggy which totally make sense when by the time we ate the cake it was already 6 days old.
I guess this purchase disappointment was on me and I should of go with the gut feeling and never buy a cake that was sitting in a display fridge for over so many days for over 60.00.

We will never come back for another purchase.
