Hoban | Korean Restaurant

This used to be my go-to place for amazing Korean food but my last two meals left me with stomach aches and a sour taste.

Both times I ordered the short ribs (galbi) and I had stomach pains after eating it. The first time around, I thought it was just a fluke because usually I have a positive experience with their food. However, this second time that I ordered from them, the galbi tasted fine but the onions and mushrooms underneath were sour and the onions smelled moldy. I don’t believe the vegetables were fresh. I believe they served me rancid vegetables. I threw it away and consequently had stomach pains again after eating here.

I don’t know if they just have new management or new workers who just don’t care about quality/freshness anymore, but I am never eating here again. It’s unfortunate because I was a loyal customer here. Even through COVID-19 and the multiple price increases on their menu, I still came here to support their restaurant but I simply cannot anymore. The food here is merely okay. The dishes in general aren’t nearly as flavorful as other places like Sole Cafe or Kimchi Tofu House. The spicy pork bulgolgi in particular doesn’t have that rich, red color that I’m accustomed to elsewhere. The portion sizes are good for sharing but prices are on the higher side compared to other places.

The service is quick and seating is plentiful, however. This place is my go-to when I don’t want to deal with long wait times and limited seating.

The food at Hoban Korean Restaurant was delicious and well-priced! We also did karaoke for an hour and a half — the extra-large room fit our group of nine perfectly and was a great deal at $60 per hour. Overall, an awesome spot for good food and fun with friends!

Awesome, authentic Korean food. This place has been a mainstay for decades. Everything is amazing from the banchan, to the apps, to the entrees.

BBQ and hot pot are really flavorful, staff is super attentive and even the owner came by multiple times to make sure we were enjoying everything. really good stuff

food is usually pretty bland & i wouldnt recommend buying from here. wasted 70$ for dry bulgogi and plain japchae. theyre super nice but food definitely isnt it. wouldnt recommend 🫤

The galbi is always great and the pork and seafood soup my wife had (new dish) was very flavorful too. The rice cooking varies. The rice quality/flavor is very good, but sometimes is undercooked a bit. The small sides vary in flavor too but I think it is subjective.

We ate here recently. From our experience , no one in my family will be coming back. We took leftovers home and the food was spoiled by the next morning. The left overs had a weird foul smell. It had only been less than 12 hrs. We found hair in our takeout and dishes. We notified staff, but we are sure they gave us the same dishes back. They gave us our “new plates”, within minutes and meat does not cook that fast.

This is always good food. The offerings seem to stay consistent. Lots of options for people. Prices are pretty good. The place is in decent shape but they really need to update the carpets. The black sections in high traffic areas are disgusting. I ised to clean carpets at bars and this is even worse then that. Strange the health inspector hasnt made them update it.

We came here for the karaoke rooms. The service was fast and excellent despite us singing quite loud and having multiple different orders.
