Love this place. Cody and Mike are excellent servers.
When you pay tab, it's preset at 20% tip. I didn't realize this. Don't need a tip when ordering is online at the table. Sure they bring drinks and food to the table but don't ask how everything Is--not much interaction. Food was good. Drinks are expensive.
This is the place I go to if I want a very nice cocktail. The bartenders are friendly. I wouldn't necessary come here for the food but it's a great option to get a pizza after a few drinks. The espresso martini is top 5 that I've had in the twin cities area. They also make a great Bloody Mary. Cody, Grace, and Mike are the best bartenders. The vibe is great and they have live music.
Follow up: the pizza is only good after a few cocktails but that was the thin crust; the normal was MUCH better
The staff was fantastic but the drinks were weak and $13 for chips & salsa? I was excited to support a local distillery but left underwhelmed.
This place used to be great but the new owners ruined it.
We have been several times and it gets worse every time. Today it took 20 minutes to get a drink after we ordered. Not to mention the drinks are just okay. They really have not nailed it!
We were just in there to purchase some apple brandy, and you shared a recipe for a sour apple martini with us. It is SO good. We always have great interactions with the staff here, everyone is so nice. Thanks again!
As always - the staff is very courteous, helpful with your cocktail explanations for specialty choices and always checking for additional cocktails or questions👏 - The weekend music 🎼 has always been good for the venue in order to enjoy the music yet still hear everyone at your table 👍 Pending weather sitting inside or outside the drunks , food and ambiance are always a treat 👍 The Flying Dutchman is definitely worth the visit.
While it is exciting to have a distillery experience in the ultra-suburbia that is Eden Prairie, especially one that leans forward on live music, I couldn't help but to feel like I was witnessing the end of the urban chic trend that has been pervasive in brewery and distillery spaces since the format blew up around the Twin Cities. While places like Tin Whiskers in St. Paul and Tattersall in Minneapolis fold, the difference here is that people in Eden Prairie tend to have more money and may not want to hoof it to the city to get their upscale gin cocktail. But they do want to have plentiful parking options, and I noticed that parking could be limited during a busy visit to Flying Dutchman. The drinks were plenty delicious here, and I recommend a visit overall. But I'm still not sure how I feel about ordering and transacting entirely over an app when staff people are standing nearby waiting to receive those orders from a computer screen. That feels like a missed opportunity to engage further and make the patron feel special for taking the time to find the place in the back of a nondescript office building. This review probably sounds negative, but it's not. I look forward to going back. But because I make a habit of trying as many new places as I can around the Twin Towns, I'm constantly in search of things that separate one place from another. The musical stage was a big win here, as was the attention to decor. I always worry about the size of a place, knowing that margins are thin, and this place is huge. But maybe, because of the location, the rent is way lower than someplace like Modist Brewing or Dual Citizen. This place is big like Fat Pants across town or Luce Line in nearby Plymouth. Anyway, go find out for yourself. I would like for them to succeed and prosper for many years.
Great cocktails and great pizza!

We held a 40th birthday party here, and it was a blast! Flying Dutchman was really the perfect venue: the reservation process was seamless, affordable prices, unique and delicious cocktails, tasty food, amazing and professional service, etc. We will definitely be returning with friends! Thank you, Flying Dutchman!
I mostly go to Flyinf Dutchman for trivia and it's awesome!! $5 drink deals on Mondays, great atmosphere, and very kind and helpful employees!
If you are looking for a date night, want to impress out of town friends or even host your next company gathering, this is the place to go! It’s a hidden gem I didn’t even realize was here, but now that I’ve found it good luck keeping me away!!!!
The TL;DR version is that you order with a QR code and it takes FOREVER to get your drinks. You are left there twisting in the wind wondering if they have even received your order. This review gets two stars because the food server rocked, and food was timely and tasty. Only redeeming quality.
Ordered with the QR code. For a place like this, it'd be nice to talk to a server/bartender and get a little more info about the drinks, but whatever. Got a pizza, chips, and two drinks. Chips came out within 5 minutes, still no drinks. We munched on chips patiently and with them about half gone, still no drinks. Some time between ten and 15 minutes after we ordered, I went up to the bar and asked about them. One was done, one was not. (And it's not like it was super busy or anything.) Finally got both of them only after we asked. The pizza ended up coming out around the same time.
So fine, a little hiccup but whatever. Settled in, ate some pizza, enjoyed the company of my wife. With an empty glass I thought I'd try again. Ordered another drink through the QR code and SAME THING. You'd think that after my visible annoyance earlier they'd at least try, but nope. Again, after about ten minutes, I go up and ask. This time there were four employees (including one who I later found out was the manager) standing around talking seeming uninterested in getting drinks out to people. I don't even think they started making it. I told them to take it off of my bill and they even struggled with that. The manager then came over to try to fix the bill in their QR system. Finally he did and I paid through the system.
He also took the opportunity to make a bunch of excuses. Training, short staffed, et cetera. Sorry guys, there were FOUR OF YOU chit chatting and not doing anything to help customers. My wife used to be a manager at a restaurant and she knew he was full of it as well. Perhaps he should have pitched in if they were short staffed? Or at least checked in with tables so we know they care we exist?
I suspect they will respond to this review with more excuses and a shallow apology. Won't matter, I'm never going back.
Flying Dutchman just hosted my party of 21 people for a holiday, after work event. I can’t state enough how floored I am with the incredibly fast service, the amazing bar attention with Darren, Lauren, and Jared, and the overall quality of their drinks. My team will now be lifelong patrons of the bar and I can’t say how thrilled I am with the entire experience. When looking for happy hour or late night drinks, please look no further than Flying Dutchman. They are the best in the west of the twin cities!
