Searched for coffee shops while on the road heading home and Higher Grounds pops up with good reviews and only a 10 minute detour. Checked the operating hours and they are posted as open til 3pm on Saturday. We pulled up the the location at 2pm, and all the doors are locked and no one answered the phone. Update your info

This coffee shop looks normal and cute from the outside, but there was a Christian nationalist “Appeal to Heaven” flag prominently displayed inside. There is no way to know what you’re walking into which, in retrospect, irks me. Upon entry, the owner immediately zeroed in and began chatting with us. By the time we looked up and saw the flag, it was too awkward to bail and we had ordered our coffee. We gave the coffee an honest chance, but unfortunately, it tasted strangely sour and downright bad.
While we still have a free country, it is the owner’s prerogative to exercise her First Amendment right and decorate her business as she chooses, but if far right extremism is not your cup of tea (or coffee), go elsewhere with a better quality product.
