Today was my daughter's 3rd birthday, and I chose Pizza Ranch in Fergus Falls as a central spot for our 40 guests, all of whom drove at least 60 miles to be there, including us. No one lived here. I called a few days in advance, was told we could reserve the back room, and estimated about 30 people. I confirmed 11:30am. Guests began arriving around 11:15.
Then the curveball: staff told our early guests they’d decided not to let us use the reserved room. No heads-up, no explanation, just that it wouldnt be busy and that they wanted everyone to sit up front. So everyone had to sit in booths and tables separated by a 5-foot wall. What kind of birthday party... ugh. When I showed up at 11:35 with the birthday girl is when I found out. The whole party would be broken up into little booth size groups. Limited Family conversation, limited shared space, no party vibe, most couldn't even see the Birthday Girl, just split-up tables and muffled voices.
When my mom came in (around 11:45) carrying the cake and cupcakes, and my dad had gifts in hand, or vice-versa, my brother helped them find a table. That’s when he overheard a young female employee mutter, “So they’re just going to walk right in without paying?” Really? They were clearly carrying party items, not sneaking slices. My mom/dad, without knowing that was said, paid right away after setting stuff down and freeing their hands.
The buffet was okay, smaller than im used to, but most of the stations were stocked. The ice cream was tasty, but no real dishes, Just those small disposable black plastic ketchup cups to put it into. One guest couldn’t find cheese pizza, so they asked for one. When a girl (young, long straight hair, no name that i noticed) brought it out, it was clear she wasn’t thrilled when only one or two slices were wanted.
For gift opening, a few huddled around a small table up front. hardly ideal. The layout made it impossible for most to watch. Oh, and when we moved a couple of the longer tables to snap a generation photo? The undersides were disgusting. Sticky and grimy like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages.
DO NOT TOUCH THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TABLE 😅
Now for the positives, because there were some!
Everyone LOVED the chicken! Juicy, flavorful, and fresh. The fries? Perfectly crispy. Dessert pizza (especially the blueberry) was amazing! The girl with short, dark hair deserves praise - super polite, always smiling, and cleared dishes quickly. THANK YOU for for being a highlight to the visit! (Unless you were the one who made the comment 😉 if so, still, great job otherwise.)
The rest of the restaurant was clean, despite those sticky table bottoms.
Even though the seating arrangement was aweful, we still enjoyed being “together.” People made the best of it. But had I known they’d yank our room last minute after confirming I’d have booked somewhere else where we could all actually be together for the party.
I’d still come back to eat, that chicken was stupid delicious but maybe somewhere else for a party or family gathering.
An awesome place with the nicest and most hard-working staff. Food to go is always very fresh and hot and made right every time. These team members make it a very pleasant experience.
Just went here with my son. First I came in and the guy who rang me up completely ignored me and my son. Only gave me my cup and didn’t get one for my child and walked away and started talking to another employee, I had to ask him a couple times before we sat down. We came for the buffet but this whole time we’ve been sitting here they haven’t restocked food or anything. I also saw the people in the back eating and drinking over clean dishes and food. I don’t think I’ll be back and I used to love this place.
Enjoy the variety of pizza choices and especially the strawberry salad.
Food was excellent and plenty
Best service I've received at a Pizza Ranch.
Arrived just before close. Food was still pretty fresh. Staff was accommodating and friendly.
Yummy pizza. There was also fried chicken, mashed potatoes and desserts.
Top notch! I love Pizza Ranch wherever I go. Fergus Falls is the 172nd location The Legendary Pizza Ranch Guest ever visited.
$30 dollars for me and a 9 year old to eat. I think their pizza is horrible so I don't eat that, but the chicken is good!! I paid 30 bux for me and a 9 year old and they had 2 pieces of dried up wings and after a half hour, still had no chicken come out... so paid 30 bux to have a salad bar that the birthday 9 year old didn't want.....

Best chicken of any pizza ranch. My sister ordered a cheese pizza with bacon and jalapeño slices. Amazing. Best I ever had. Best chicken cooker ever. He has been there for a long time. You can tell when he is cooking.
