Food was acceptable and the server/cook got anything I asked for, however the staff member at the register was exceptionally rude very openly and unprovoked; berated me while entering the restraunt and continuing when I left. I was shocked she found it acceptable to do so in front of fellow staff and a young kid behind the desk nearby.

Went in a 11:15 and left at 12:30 with no food, no refills and no attempt of service at all. They hadn’t even started our order when we left. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. The manager was very causally leaning against the counter sipping coffee like it was a slow day as no customers had been served food in the hour we’d been there.

Don’t waste your time
Definitely a hidden gem. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, absolutely stuffed! Service was great. Felt bad for the sever who was also the cook and checking in guests simultaneously.
The menus are digital, which is a huge turn-off for me. That is the sole reason my review is 1 star. People hate digital menus.
The service was subpar. The staff who greeted me didn’t smile or anything the entire time I was here; in fact, she seemed like she’d rather be anywhere else. She was glum, and when I walked in, she greeted me by asking, “Are you here to eat, or…?” I felt unwelcome my entire visit because of this.
I ordered coffee and had to wait several minutes to receive silverware, so I didn’t have anything I could use to stir in my creamer.
The food was prepared and served promptly. The presentation was great. The food looked very appetizing. The bacon was good, but the French Toast was salty for some reason. French Toast should not be salty.
Overall, I don’t recommend eating here. You’d be better off getting breakfast from a gas station.

This place could be a whole lot better if they had more customer service and better food choices it's supposed to be a diner not like a fast food joint

This place has so much potential to be a fun place. 50's theme atmosphere is great, food not as great. We had the French dip & the beef was way over cooked and dry. Tots not seasoned at all. We ordered the hand dipped shakes & were told there was only mint chip available. They were heavy on the milk, super runny & after we got it, we were told they were out of Whipped cream & no cherry like pictured. My kids said it was good anyway. Disappointing experience for me.

Not actually a 24 hour place. The woman working said they wouldn't serve anyone until 7am.

I have been there twice in the last year and both times the bill was expensive!!!
The last summer I ordered a coffee and a side of toast. This was a $12.00 bill. The service was great, and I never had to ask for a refill, as the waitress was on it. Then last week I ordered a coffee and a cup of Pepsi and that was a $9.00 bill. I had to flag the waitress down, as she was sitting behind a desk (we were the only people in the place), she never asked if we were doing OK or wanted food.
I will not go there again. I know my family said it was cheap, but my two experiences were that it was WAY overpriced. My ex-father-in-law was an engineer for Burlington and always said the railroad diners are the best. Guess he never came to Glenwood!

We were out and about and stopped into Pennys Diner which years ago we loved to stop at! But unfortunately we had the worst experience we have had anywhere! My wife ordered a Chef Salad and when it came to the table in a tiny bowl, the salad was no larger than a side salad. When questioned about it the waitress proceeded to argue with my wife! I ordered the triple layer club sandwich, I had one bite of my meal and was overwhelmed by the taste and smell of fish coming from my sandwich and fries. Years ago this was one of our favorite places to stop and eat, however after this experience we will no longer return! We were treated very poorly, our meals were not as described, and my sandwich and fries should not smell or taste of fish, especially since I never ordered any fish!
