Used to be a benihana regular. Had several bad experiences at MOA location and hadn't been back in years. I stopped here for lunch and Sheila was my server in the bar area...she won back a customer. Her service was so friendly and accommodating. Benihana is lucky to have her!

We were in town visiting friends. We lived here for many years and Benihanas Golden Valley was always on our list of fav restaurants....that is until Covid. During and after Covid, the quality of both service and food has dropped while the prices have skyrocketed. Add on top an automatic 20% service charge and a meal that cost around $100 for 2 people now costs almost $200. We completely understand that EVERYTHING is more expensive now but not at the rate that Benihanas is. Additionally the servers tell us that the 20% service charge is not for them, BUT management says that the service charge is split between the chef and server. An additional issue is the chefs. Either the training is insufficient or the hiring lacks. The past two visits we've had our filets overcooked and during the last visit we had asked for no onions in any part of the meal. The chef dumped onions in my husband's plate before we could stop him. Guests shouldn't have to continually remind the staff of an allergy or digestive concern. All in all due to the high pricing, questionable service charge and where it goes, slow service, and unqualified chefs, we won't be going back when visiting. In Minneapolis and the surrounding area there are too many other high quality restaurants(Manny's Steakhouse, Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse to name a few) to chose from.

The service and teppanyaki chef were friendly and wonderful; food was great. We had to keep our coats on, however, since they hope the grill negates the need for heat. It was a pretty cold day outside, but it wasn't comfortable without our heavy winter coats.

Our food was good; however, the speed and quality of service was slower than we expect based on previous visits to Benihana. There were a 3-4 mistakes with orders between our group and the other group sharing our table. One thing that is very consistent with this visit and my past visits to Benihana is that servers don't follow-up often after initial food drink/orders. Considering that alcoholic beverages are not cheap I'm surprised the servers aren't more observant after initial beverages are delivered.

Brought the kids there for a fun experience. The chef didn't do anything. Just cooked. I could have set up lawn chairs and had them watch me grill for a better experience.

Great food and staff. Our table featured another customer who was an absolute moron — rude, making racist comments to and about staff, trying to be the center of attention. The staff handled him in a very classy and de-escalating manner, despite his best efforts to ruin everything for everyone.

Drinks seemed overpriced. Service at the rail was a little slow as it seemed like the bartender had duties outside of taking care of the bar area.

Had a reservation at 6:30pm for my birthday didn't get sat till 7:15pm then it took about 45 mins at the table to get start dinner didn't leave till 9pm

Our food was good, our service was Terrible. We waited forever for our check after finishing eating and the table we were at was freezing cold. Very uncomfortable during dinner. After receiving a discount for Veterans Day for $50, our bill was still quite pricey. Too expensive for this type of experience.
