Stopped by for breakfast on a Sunday around 10:20. Got a table right away, and the server brought our drinks in a timely manner. They offer a breakfast buffet or ordering off a menu. The six of us chose to order off the menu. Our food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious! Thick cut bacon and crispy hash browns. Yummy!Service was great and so was the food. We will definitely come back if we are in the area.

I need to be more diligent in taking pics & videos but the views from the legion were so amazing that I totally got lost in looking over the Mississippi river. You have to see it for yourself! Went in on a Monday afternoon, and they had a hamburger special, which I got. The burger was fairly decent and the fries were crisp and seasoned well. Our server Sandy was wonderful and attentive. The menu is limited to finger food (I guess, which is to be expected). The seating area is a little dated (probably to be expected also) and the bathrooms could definitely use some TLC.

Arrived 6 PM ordered a cocktail onthe deck receive my cocktail about 615 at 6:30 ask waitress for my change and menu at 6:50. She asked me if I wanted anything I said no thank you it was too late so I left with no supper left her a dollar tip never have. I left anyone only a dollar in my life . Horrible service. I don't know why she ignored me.

Poor service. Only those sitting at the bar were taken care of. This has happened twice in less than two weeks & it was not a busy time. If there was no table service the staff should let us know.

The food and service was ok but for heaven’s sake clean those darn window sills, they were full of little green aphid bugs. The cleanliness of the chairs and tables needs improvement too.

They had us wait longer then the people who came in after us, then my husband's burger was cold and raw on inside, they claimed that my chicken meal took longer. They brought my husband a new burger. Then on my receipt they tried charging us for french fries and said it came with chips, we would have preferred them, we never asked them to substitute fries, we won't be back!

Food was good. Service - STUNK! Our server treated us like we were an inconvenience to her. It was a Monday evening. It was so-so busy and we weren't in a hurry at all. She took our drink order (ice tea) I asked her if they had artificial sweetner (can't have sugar) and a big sigh and she left... no response. She returned with 2 regular sugar packets. We were there scoping out the place for 4 other couples, we were planning to be there with next Monday. We will be changing venues!! I finally tracked her down and got 2 pink artificial sweetner packets. She took our order and told us it would probably be 45 minutes before we got our food (patty melt and an order of cheese curds). After 10 minutes our food was delivered by a guy from the bar. I had to go to the next table to borrow the ketchup - "bring it back as we will need it for our order!" Server came back and brought our check and was as sweet as could be (what changed?). Ran our card and never saw her again. Maybe brought our check because it was tip time? (sorry - sarcasm).Needless to say, our server was less than welcoming! Food good - server terrible! Ambiance was great, as we were out on the patio, overlooking the river. Flies were obnoxious, but tis the season. We'll try it again, however, not with other couples. Don't want to risk embarrassing ourselves with the terrible service! Hopefully we will get a server that wants to work there, not has to work there! Attitude is everything!

Ate outside, FLIES will carry u away!!!Horrible! They need to hose off the cement! Hundreds on ground. Easy fix that would help! Could hardly eat!Prices way to high for a boring menu! Don’t mind paying higher prices for good food. Use to have good food, What happened. Fish was a one star. Use to Love it there wouldn’t go back anytime soon. Will sit out side to eat at the busted nut! At least you don’t have to bring a fly swatter!

Good food and great location, but BE ADVISED, if you want to order broasted chicken on a busy night, it could take up to 2 hours to be served. Would have been nice if server explained that so I could have had the option to order another item and get the hell out of here in a reasonable amount time.

I wish they could re-think the menu. Limited selections with nothing that's exceptional. Ketchup had too much vinegar. Nice to be on the water and always friendly, great service.

The American Legion has had good food when I am there. Their prices are getting a little high. Best of all they have a beautiful view. If you want breakfast you have to get there before 10:30 a.m. If you call them, they say they will be open for breakfast till 11:00 a.m. but, almost everytime I have went there they close the kitchen to switch over to lunch around 10:30 a m. or 10:45 a.m. PLEASE either hire more help or change your breakfast time to 10:30 a.m. STOP misleading your customers. They come for breakfast and cannot get it. I WORK IN HOSPITALITY AND THIS IS NOT GOOD SERVICE.

Come down to Hastings every few months to visit the antique shops and usually stop at the American Legion for lunch and usually really good service.Last time we'll be stopping here for lunch. Wife ordered a mamosa..... about 15 minutes later and looking around for waitress, she finally showed up and we had to ask about the mamosa again. Wife also ordered the club sandwich on untoasted bread.....it was toasted. I would have had another beer if the waitress ever came back before we finished our meal. 10% was too much of a tip that we left.

This is our favorite place in Hastings for breakfast or lunch, especially in the summer when you can enjoy the beautiful view from the patio overlooking the Mississippi River. The food is good, especially the Reuben sandwich at lunch or the corned beef hash or biscuits and gravy at breakfast. Drinks are well-made and generous. The one downside is the speed of service. The servers are all very friendly and enthusiastic, but the kitchen is small and probably overwhelmed because the food delivery is very SLOW.Friday night fish fry is good and karaoke nights are a load of fun. Lots of locals performing and some of them are pretty good!
