Maya Authentic Mexican Restaurant

No bueno and im mexican myself i have worked in many states and tried many mexican spots but this place is not what it seems.

Tonight, I called and ordered chips & queso to pickup. When I arrived I was informed my total was $16 and some change. I handed him a $20 and walked out. When I got to my veh I looked up the online menu and it showed queso was 5.99. I walked back in and questioned my total thinking he overcharged me by accident. At the same time I was looking at the menu inside and it showed 8.99 for queso. He stated the online menu was incorrect and then indicated I was charged an additional 5.99 for chips. If we eat in house we are not charged for chips. Seems kinda shady! We won’t be back!

Service is lacking, extremely lacking. How this place has one of the best ratings in Duluth for Mexican food is beyond me. We got sat down, I wanna make this clear the place was not busy. Not busy at all, maybe 10 tables sat in the entire restaurant. If that. We sat for 15min+ before a waiter came to us. They walked by and looked at us. No drinks no chips, just sitting. Finally someone came over to our drink order. Stuff went smooth after, got our food. Never got refills, food was okay. It wasn’t horrible also wasn’t the best it was just food. Had to go up and ask for our ticket. I was not impressed. Bland food and extremely below average service.

Shared the fajitas (steak & chicken) we asked for no beans, other wise it comes with that as well.

10/10 best salsa and queso in town. We added chorizo to ours.

Really enjoyed our visit! The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, and we thought the atmosphere was very cute. The food was relatively authentic, despite reviews stating otherwise. My only criticism is that the prices were a tad high for the portion sizes. The food arrived on large plates, but the actual amount of food on the plates was lackluster. Giving 5 stars, because it deserves better than what it has now and was really good, but I would probably give it a 4.5 because of the slightly smaller portions. We'll definitely return though!

Not a friendly environment and no alternative on the menu. I wanted cilantro and onions on my taco and the server told me no you can't have it, that is on a different menu, you have to have American cheese tomatoes and lettuce. Beans were can no taste...it reminder me of taco bell not a friendly server and I had to ask why there was a service fee...he said if you are paying by credit card...he never asked how I was paying which was cash. I won't be back there...big disappointment

Absolutely terrible service for the lady taking orders called at 730 to see if they were taking take out orders she said yes if you order within 30 min so I called back 5 min later only to be hung up on 8 times answers and puts the phone down repeatedly will not be supporting them anymore just say you're not taking orders you lazy person
