Wonderful old style bar and grill with small town Cafe. This is our 4th time here for some dinner. Couldn't wait fer their pizza, oops, they had a broasted chicken buffet, only $14. Had ta try it. Chicken was like Grandma makes, crunchy skin, not much seasoning, but sprinkle of salt and this was REALLY good stuff. Mashed tatoes-n-gravy were the same way, not crazy on overseasoning, but small sprinkle of salt and pepper, wow. FULL salad bar with small amounts of a lot of varieties which kept it pretty fresh. Gonna stop here again.
Brother and I stopped again... this time for the goose special pizza. Uffda that's good!!! Quite filling k will say. Lotsa toppings plenty of cheese a good crust and really good sauce. Thank you Goose!

I was told about this place from a friend. I was not disappointed.
As you drive down main street into Janesville, MN.. off to the side is this purple building, The Purple Goose, which I love that name.
The atmosphere was warm, fun, and inviting. Our waitress and bartender Sara (I'm not sure about the spelling) and she was fantastic and very helpful. It was all of ours first time there and she took the time to explain how everything worked, which was important because it was all you can eat broasted chicken .
Me and my parents got the chicken and salad bar and soup (tomato basil). My brother got the hamburger steak and his wife got the fried shrimp.
I loved the tomato basil soup as I got 3 helpins of it. My first trip up was a heaping salad ?. They have so many fresh and delicious options at the salad bar... even wonderful fresh fruit.
After eating my salad and soup, I got the broasted chicken (because it's fried under pressure) and it is crispy, moist, and tender. The gravy, corn and mashed potatoes compliment it perfectly.
My only problem was that I went up a 3rd time to the buffet, and I got too stuffed ??.
We all talked about how we can't wait to come back and try the pizzas, as several people came in to get take-out orders.
That's another thing... Is everyone there was really nice. They were just having a good time and people raised their beers and smiled as we were enjoying great food, atmosphere and company.
Whether you're a regular or a first-timer .. The Purple Goose is a blast.
I highly recommend going to Janesville and spending some time there!

The food is great, drinks are great. Beer is always cold. The atmosphere is inviting. I love all of the bartenders & wait staff. The new owners are wonderful & friendly. I have made many new friends here.
The employees that work in the bar area are rude and made rude remarks to each other when I walked into the bar and walked past the bar to go into the restaurant to eat saying "they just come in to use the restroom. We should charge them a dollar to use it because that's all they come in for." I thought it was really rude for them to say something like that especially when I wasn't going into the bathroom at all I was going in to spend money in the restaurant and they assumed that I was going into the bathroom because I'm working here at the carnival this week so the favorite thing to do is dis people that work for the carnival it seems that they're very judgemental and a lot of the people in the town are too but a restaurant should be a restaurant and a bar should be a bar they should respect anybody that comes in and pays for anyone putting on a show setting up entertainment for the people of the town. Honestly I could have just stayed home in Arizona on my 40 acres of property with my dog and my girl enjoying life with my family.

Bar is over priced! Way too expensive for the small little town of Janesville. No wonder nobody was in there the afternoon we were there. Instead of increasing prices to raise more revenue, how about lowering them and doing more VOLUME?! If your bar is busy, everybody has a better time and will stay longer and spend more. What a boring place you have. Put some FN music on. Ever wonder why Walmart has music playing inside the store? IT PUTS PEOPLE IN A BETTER MOOD AND THEY WANT TO SPEND MORE!
