Idk where to begin! Coming from a Jamaican household and being deeply embedded into the culture this restaurant gives you all the feels of “home!” The music, colors and just aesthetics truly brings a Caribbean touch to this Manhattan location. Now let's talk FOOD, curry oxtail tacos, June plum (iykyk) margaritas, sorrel glazed lamb chops ? All key things of which makes Jamaica so special is plated before me and must I say every single item delivered the perfect bite and taste! Truly a work of art! I shall and will be back because I can't wait to enjoy what else comes out of Omar's kitchen 👏🏾
Love the food and variety of flavors. One of my favorite places to go when I want Caribbean food.
The food was RIDICULOUS & we actually almost went back the next day for more! Top notch, service, drinks, the meals, everything. Loved it.
Loved it here! We came for our anniversary and Valentine's Day. Highly recc. The tamarind drink was made with fresh tamarind puree. The food was delicious, a highlight were the jerk wings and the fried escovitch snapper. We can't wait to go back!
I met out of town friends who were staying in the LES here for dinner on a Wednesday. We loved the relaxed feel and curated decor. The chef in our group complimented the rum punch -- he ordered three -- and the jerk chicken. The conch crocqettes and fish fritters were both better than any conch fritters I've had. Honestly, I also thought the peas and rice the best I've eaten, well seasoned and light, but not dry. Our server was friendly, and we were not hurried out.
This was my first time visiting Omar's Kitchen. This restaurant has been on my list for a long time but so I am glad I finally got to try it. Pros: - extensive drink menu -great wait staff- Our waiter was very attentive and had great knowledge of the menu -fast service - Was relatively empty at 7pm on Friday but did get busy as the night went on - curry shrimp was great - jerk chicken was cool Cons: - was very cold and drafty - music very loud, making conversation a little hard - saltfish fritters were a bit doughy. -Bread pudding lacked flavor
Malcolm and the chef were excellent. I changed my reservation last minute and both were happy to accommodate. The macaroni and cheese was amazing and the oxtails were very flavorful.
Omar's Kitchen and Rum Bar has an amazing aesthetic and serves truly authentic Jamaican food. The brown stew snapper and codfish fritters are staples for me every time I visit..they never disappoint. The service is excellent, and the food and drinks are always on point. If you're looking for great vibes and incredible Caribbean cuisine, this is definitely a place you need to check out.
Small authentic Caribbean based restaurant. Cool vibes, and good music playing but not super loud. The waiters were friendly. However the guy that greeted us at the door looked at us like we were crazy when we said we had a reservation lol. Food was mostly good just the rice could have been cooked some more. Fritters and Jerk goat ribs were delicious. Drinks were great! Overall, I'll give it 3.5/5 stars.
i really enjoyed myself at omar's. the food is definitely great & i feel like you get more than you paid for especially with the jerk chicken. the ambience is nice, it gives a cute little date night spot if you're into caribbean flair. overall had a good time and would definitely go back!

Omar's Kitchen has become home away from home, I've been going there ever since it opened, the food is always a solid 10/10. Recently took my friend who was visiting from LA and she loved everything about Omar's Kitchen and can't wait to go back.
My experience at Omar's Kitchen & Rum Bar was amazing. My server was so attentive and knew the menu very well. She was able to help me with my questions on what to get *I got the Escovitch Fish* and led me to swapping out one of my sides for the mac and cheese which was amazing. The drinks were delicious- I got a sorrel and soursop mocktail, so good and the staff was super nice as well! The music playing as well as the decor made for a great ambiance, I would definitely be back and recommend people to come eat here.
We over all enjoyed dinner but it was very warm (no or little air conditioning )and the place is much smaller than I imagined from photos. We were well attended by the staff. The wings were great and the snapper also. Curry shrimp had a lot to be desired. We will go back maybe on a cooler day and try another dish.
If I could give this place zero stars for service I would. We came from 2 hours away made a reservation at 7 for fathers day it was my fiancés first Father's Day. When I walked in I was greeted extremely rudely by the girl host she had no idea of my reservation luckily there was a very small table between two other tables jammed together I then asked for a high chair which to my surprise they had none so I had to hold my 9 month old son the whole time. Nobody came to ask us for drinks or food for about 40 mins when they finally did the food took 2 hours to get we had to take it to go because the baby was fussing crazy by the time they were done. The food was terrible jerk chicken was extremely dry & the saltfish fritters were burnt up. I tried to write them to make things right & never got a reply this is extremely unprofessional & a disgusting way to treat people. I work in food myself & I would never treat a customer the way we were treated. I will NEVER be back!
The vibe was really good, great drinks , amazing customer service but the food was not good at all. I had the curry oxtail and rice it lacked flavor and the rice and salad tasted stale, my friend had the jerk chicken and that was very disappointed . Overall nice vibe, good music and drinks but the food sucked.
