Slow service but good food. Bring back the bruschetta!
Unique setting, awesome menu! This place is so unique; it has full outdoor seating, partially enclosed seating and fully enclosed seating. Located on the Root River, it is gorgeous! The menu is perfect size and has great choices. Very freshly prepared and delicious! Acoustic music outdoors on Sundays, very quaint and folksy. Definitely will become a favorite once you've been there.
Very nice restaurant in the small town of Lanesboro! Had a patio dinner of Cajun Catfish Sandwich and was quite pleased to see not one but, two perfectly cooked, well seasoned fillets. Absolutely delicious! Tasty side order of mac and cheese had a nice white cheddar sauce and a touch of parmesan. Try the Deviled Eggs with Bacon Jam for a different appetizer. Right next to the Root River and the old bridge. Very scenic area as well!
It was the first time anybody asked if I wanted a blanket to eat outside in the rain. It was fantastic great efficient
Nice patio Above The Root River. Decent food good pulled pork sandwiches nice afternoon
This place is an amazing destination! What a fun and playful atmosphere
Location is cool along the river. Food was good but not great.
We sat on the deck and were right on the river. It was a great place to dine. Food was good, beer selection very nice with a variety of Minnesota craft beer.
Good food. Great location. Service was very good. Try the prime rib
I love this place! Great food. I use to work here. My co workers were great. The head chef Nancy at the time was probably the best chef I have met to this day. But it is a great place to eat or chill.

Had the walleye special with seafood hollandaise and rice. Excellent.
Good food! Not your normal fare. Seating is outside with some seating under a roof for when it rains. Love the atmosphere. Provides music during the summer months. Service here is very slow. The best part was the band that played. Loved the banjo.
We visited here in early October so the outside dining area was pretty much covered with plastic panels to keep the wind and leaves from blowing in ... so not the best atmosphere... the food was good and they offer some gluten free options... the price was quite a bit more than we expected ... $9 bloody Mary's should be a lot bigger than what we recieved.
Limited days of operations. Food is usually good quality with festive presentation. Service during our last visit was not up to par as past experience.
We were in Lanesboro for the weekend to ride some of the flattest and easiest bike trails you'll ever find. We ate at a few different places but initially we avoided Riverside on the Root because of the mixed Google reviews. The guy who complained there's no prime rib at lunch time and the woman with real or imaginary dietary restrictions that the waiter wasn't able to immediately divine, can be dismissed as fringe elements (I myself have been mutton free since 1982), but the complaints about poor food and service were a little off putting. Nevertheless, our experience was very good. The hostess was who seated us was knowledgeable and very friendly. It was cool outside on the deck, so she offered blankets and turned on the overhead radiant heater. Our waiter was prompt and professional, and even split the appetizer cost on our bill, which was appreciated but not requested. The entrée we ordered (baked walleye topped with king crab and shrimp) came promptly and was both delicious and filling. Pay no attention to the tolls giving only one star. Our experience would suggest Riverside on the Root is as good as any other place in town, and better than most. Plus the deck is pretty nice, being right there on the river such as it is.
