Waited for hostess to seat us for over 5 minutes. It was busy but not full. Got seated at 6:15, we were totally ignored for over 1/2 an hour. Finally, stopped a waitress and she said we weren’t assigned to her but she would help us in a five minutes. She came a bit later gave us water and at least 5 minutes passed and she came back to take our order. Took awhile to get our food which was good, but she came and took our plates and never came back to give us our bill for 15 minutes and it was less than 1/2 full by then. My wife finally walked to the hostess station and asked for are bill so we could pay. Honestly, we don’t blame the staff, as we felt it was more poor management and poor training than anything else.

Food was excellent, prices were good. Cash only thru the whole resort, odd. Recommend going, building looks to be almost brand new. Had multiple meals here. Best scrambled eggs ive ever had.

We came in for a couple drinks, nice staff, but it was so blazing warm we took the drinks outside, which was pleasant.
Nice live music, but we had to go outside

Sadly this place is a disappointment. We come to the Lutsen area often and loved Papa Charlie’s. We were heartbroken when it burned down, but we were excited about the new place. The space is very pretty, but unfortunately, the rest of our experience was terrible. We had a reservation for eight people at 7:30 on a Saturday night, and when we arrived, there were no tables available. The hostess did nothing to help remedy the situation and basically told us there was nothing she could do. I asked to speak to the manager, and she told me there wasn’t one. Magically, a manger appeared about five minutes later. He helped to get the tables arranged for our group, and then disappeared. We waited quite a while for a server, but when she did come to our table, she was overwhelmed. However, she was pleasant. She took our drink order for two bottles of wine, an NA beer (which they didn’t have), and a cocktail. It took about 15 minutes for the wine to show up, but no glasses and she didn’t open the bottles. We continued to sit there for about another ten minutes and finally got up and left. In total, we were there for about 45 minutes - horrible service and the hostess was beyond rude. This was a truly awful experience. We will not be back.
This place has a lot of kinks to work out. We had a group of 8 there to celebrate an anniversary. We had reservations. When we showed up - no tables available! Said they could split us up. What!!??? Hostess didn’t know if a manager was there when we asked to speak to one. Then one appeared. They finally put some tables together for us. Waited another 10+ min to then be acknowledged. Waitress came to take our orders. Didn’t ask about drinks. We ordered a couple bottles of wine, and a drink. One ordered a N.A. beer and she was told they don’t have any. We did not order food. The bottles of wine were brought but no glasswear nor were the bottles opened. After sitting there for another 15 min drinking water and staring at unopened wine bottles our group all got up and left. The couple at the table next to us said “good decision”. As I said - a lot of kinks to work out. Don’t waste your time or money.

Dinner for two broiled walleye and she had a pork chop. Mashed potato side
Potatoes came out way below room temperature one tiny filet. Supposed to have remolaude sauce had to ask for that. Took ten minutes to get sauce and warm potatoes. 2 drinks were good total with tip 139.00 worst experience in years and we eat out a lot. Please don’t waste your money. They obviously don’t care. That was crystal clear

A hot mess all around. It was a Thursday night around 7:30. No one was working the host station. Several servers walked by and ignored us. We waited for about 5 minutes before someone finally acknowledged us. We waited another 10 minutes for water and probably another 10 for a can of beer and a glass to arrive. We almost left before the beer arrived, but thought we'd give them a chance. Our waitress, though very friendly, didn't know what they had on tap. She showed me her handheld device which listed brands (Hamm's, Bent Paddle, etc.), but not specific beers. I laughed it off and ordered a mystery beer from Bent Paddle. Our food arrived and both orders were wrong. I was given a huge plate of fried when I had asked for fruit, not a huge deal. My wife ordered a house salad and was given the beet salad. It took another 5 minutes to flag down the waitress. She insisted they it was indeed the house salad (it wasn't). My wife said she would eat it. My burger was fine, but unremarkable. After the food was dropped off, no one checked in with us, or offered another drink. There were about 10 tables with occupants and at least 3 servers. Almost everyone in the restaurant looked annoyed. It was a really weird dining experience and it seemed as if the staff lacked clear direction - their intention was genuine, but they seemed overwhelmed and lacking leadership. I hate to think about how much worse this could be in a busy night.

Everything is great here! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable ( I have a food allergy). The food is excellent. The view and atmosphere is wonderful. It is a nice place to go without breaking the bank.

Spur of the moment, drive down to get a bite to eat. Had not been in Charlie's since the rebuild. Beautiful new building with an open feel. Great views out the patio. I was initially surprised by the smaller menu. Perhaps disappointed, and that was a mistake on my part. I ordered scotch eggs and a Ceasars salad. The presentation was spot on. Freshness and attention to detail were on point. Seeing the staff in the kitchen allowed me to see how they focused on creating each dish. Not just for me, but for the other diners. Sausage on the eggs was fresh, and the eggs were cooked to the right consistency. Ceasars salad was plated on a bed of dressing and crisp n fresh romaine wedges. Dessert was an Affogato gelato and a glass of reisling. The espresso was fresh, and I think I have a new favorite dessert! Staff was very accommodating and attentive. I will be back to try the rest of the menu.
