Hosts were friendly and welcoming. Server wasn't fully prepared lamp not lit on table i had to let him know their was no lamp oil. This should be a closing or open duty for all servers. Server had limited knowledge about drinks but that will improve in time. Soup was deliverd cold and presentation of food was not good. The butter served with the potato should be more room temp to melt better. My Steak was overdone but my husbands was done perfect. 2nd drinks not offered even though our glasses were empty, but our water was refilled. This restaurant has potential if the right owners brought in some special cooks and servers were trained a bit better. The servers are very young so they have potential to learn and be good. Dessert looked like it was thrown on plate. The Carmel tasted homemade but not the chocolate, and the icecream needs more vanilla or flavor. The servers should be encouraged to sell. Fresh cracked pepper might be a nice touch. Servers should check back to provide change or check to see if everything is OK. It was good not great.
Great place for fine & casual dining. The ambiance, rustic decor & pictures, and other wall hanging make you feel like you are stepping back in time to the mid 1800s. The table settings were elegant & the waitress service was superior. Placemats had the names of famous people who visited the restaurant; including Presidents. A hidden treasure in a small out of the way fun to visit farm town. Will definitely return.

Old time building and decor. Should have spent more time looking around. Food wasn’t too bad. Service was excellent.

Brenda was a fantastic server. The filet and lamb chops were amazing, as were the onion rings!

We went for our one year anniversary. There were some ups and downs. One I would recommend the onion ring. Very fresh, large portion and homemade ranch was great. I would NOT recommend the seafood melt. It had those to tiny shrimp with veins still and just very fishy old taste. We both got the ribeye both cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. I got the augratin potato’s which are just cheesy hash browns Al little salty but still really good. The chopped salad was very minimal I’d get the soup next time. And a side of broiled shrimp. Wouldn’t get those again very rubbery and no flavor. My partner got the fries which he loved and the Cesar salad which he didn’t not. Over all the important part of the meal was really great. Could use a few changes but we would come back another time!
We had ribeyes last night that were excellent. The au gratins are a must. Onion rings are legit and very good.
A true supper club that hasn't changed over the decades despite a few different ownership. Well worth the drive from the cities
Had a great dining experience with a group of 10. 1 waitress, but she had help at times. Food was delicious. Walleye, shrimp, pork chops and all the sides. Fancy, but not over the top. Casual works too.

A beautiful restaurant in a charming town—truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. It was exactly what these two weary travelers needed at the end of a long day. Old-school fine dining at its absolute best.
Over the years, this establishment has welcomed some remarkable guests, including U.S. Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and Dwight D. Eisenhower, actors Fred MacMurray and Roy Rogers, sports legends like Mickey Mantle and the Minnesota Vikings, and even Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

Honestly, kind of overrated. Not a bad meal, but expensive for what it is and a bit out of the way for our typical meal out. I would go again to give it another shot, but I wasn't blown away after years of being told it was very good.

Went for a birthday celebration on a Wednesday evening. Unfortunately,by 6:30pm, they had run out of the prime rib that many of us were planning on ordering. My walleye was prepared perfectly but others were not as satisfied with how their more expensive steaks were prepared. One felt that the steak was under cooked & another felt that his was overcooked. Appetizers were plentiful and very tasty. All in all not a bad experience but not quite as good as we were expecting.
