Wonderful family-owned business, great food, great service. I am shocked and angered to learn about their recent harassment from 🧊 agents. They were forced to close their doors due to the ongoing war against minorities and immigrants.

We have been coming to El Rodeo for years. Within minutes of being seated, an always friendly wait staff brings fresh chips and salsa. The service is always fast, the food authentic and delicious. This is a family business and they seem to really care about each other and their community.

Never a bad meal, reliable and delicious every visit. It’s a place we go back to regularly with family to come together, celebrate, reunite, when loved ones are in town. Everyone in the extended family has their favorite dish. Starts with chips and salsa, fantastic and broad menu to choose from, delicious margs. And even more special on a birthday. And the staff!!! They make you feel like you’re part of the El Rodeo family. Can’t go wrong here!

Love this place. It's our go to Mexican restaurant here in Maple Grove when we're in Minneapolis area. Chimichanga with grilled chicken is always excellent, that's the wife's favorite. While I really like the chili rellenos. Only thing I don't care for is the salsa there comes with the chips. And thus the 4 stars vs 5.

Shrimp and hard pepper skin in fajitas. Horrible customer care. I'm totally disappointed.

The food is good, I would say average taqueria or a little above average. There was a weird dark spicy sauce that came with the tacos. I don’t know what it was, I’m used to a greenish sauce, like guacamole/cilantro/jalapeño sauce. The service is very poor. It took a while for them to take order. Once ur food arrives, the waiter disappears until it’s time to clean. The check took a while to get picked up so we just paid at the front.

The service was top notch! Jose is very personable and the gentleman that brought out my food was happy and sang a line from the Mexican music playing! What a fantastic experience!

As long as they have the cheese chorizo dip on the menu I will keep coming back. Their fajitas are also tasty. Or charging a dollar for a basket of chips and a dollar for salsa. Come on, those should be free.

My friend and I used to come here frequently but hadn't for awhile. Went today right at 11. Had to wave down a water to place order. Another guy brought drinks. Same guy brought food, never came back and place was empty. We will never go back. Just because we're 2 ladies doesn't mean we don't count. What happened to this place?

The service was poor. The male server continuously touched the female guests shoulders making them uncomfortable. The street tacos were literally a tortilla and steak nothing else. The table we were originally were sat at was dirty and the staff were rude to each other when the host mentioned the table was dirty to the server. Will not be back!

I rank this place very high for whatvit is worth. They are always fast and polite. Food is always hot and excellent. I had the carne asada dinner platter today and it was damn good. Very authentic flavors.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A True Gem of Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Minnesota

As someone who grew up in West Texas—where Mexican food isn’t just a meal but a way of life—I’m extremely particular when it comes to judging Mexican cuisine. That said, El Rodeo in Maple Grove has absolutely earned my highest praise. This isn’t just another restaurant—it’s an experience.

From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like family. The management and servers know your name, greet you warmly, and make every visit feel like a homecoming. Many of their customers have been coming for years, which speaks volumes about the consistency, quality, and heart behind this place.

The food? Unmatched.
El Rodeo brings that rich, spicy, and authentic flavor straight from Mexico. Every dish tastes freshly prepared with premium ingredients—nothing ever feels mass-produced or cut-cornered. Their chicken breast is sourced from only the best, and the same goes for their beef and other meats. You can taste the difference.

Start off with their incredible queso dip and chips paired with their homemade red salsa—bold, spicy, and full of flavor. Their beer is ice-cold, the tea is freshly brewed, and every mixed drink is crafted to perfection.

The ambiance is warm and cozy, with Spanish tunes playing in the background that transport you straight to a vibrant street in Mexico. Whether you’re out with the family or grabbing a bite with coworkers, El Rodeo offers a setting that’s both relaxing and energizing.

Ample parking, plenty of space inside, and zero pretension.
This is one of the very few places in Minnesota where I don’t even check the price—because I know the food and the service will be well worth every dollar.

Do yourself a favor: stop in, say hello to the staff, and introduce yourself. Chances are, you’ll leave with a full stomach and a few new friends.

As a 20-year food service professional and a self-proclaimed harsh critic—this 5-star review is well earned.
Enjoy your visit… and thank me later.
