Have not been even slightly disappointed with any item from the bakery. If you get there early, the donuts are hot. You can't beat it. The cronut and mocha cake are probably my favorites, but you cannot go wrong. Lovely people that work there as well!

My partner in crime and I embarked on a Southern MN Donut Challenge this morning. We only compared glazed, raised donuts for uniform evaluation purposes at 3 locations-The Robin's Egg (Northfield), Mackenthun's (Lonsdale) and Franke's Bakery (Montgomery). The clear winner is Franke's Bakery in Montgomery. Seriously worth the trip.

Franke's is that small town bakery where everyone knows everyone and checks in with each other. The atmosphere is always warm, and everyone is always friendly. It doesn't matter what you ask for ask far as baked goods, as everything is absolutely amazing! This is a great treat for our kids occasionally on the way to school. We always make sure to have fresh kolaches on hand when we have guests coming to visit from out of town. You have the option of taking your goodies...
