Beautiful resort with the loveliest staff and so many amazing things to do: kayak, golf, enjoy the lake! Highly recommend.

Nearby activities: 2 golf courses. Marina. Outside pool. Racquet court
Safety: Timed locks on entry doors. Gated community feel.

There have been a lot of changes occurring with new owners - they are trying to improve the resort with limites resources. I will not go into details about lodging as there were some issues with our stay. I am leaving the four stars for the two managers, Shelby and Jodi, who were very kind and reasonable when I brought these issues forward.
They are trying their best to save a great place on Mille Lacs Lake.

Extremely disappointed with our 6th stay at Izaty's! We arrived Friday to find the pool was a disgusting green color and was closed. Supposedly an issue with a pump and I was told they had someone coming in the next morning to look at it. It's now Tuesday evening. Pool is still nasty and green. My son was told it may reopen Thursday or....possibly not until next year!! Hot tub of course has also been closed. AND indoor pool too because Supposedly it's so old they can't even get a pump for it. We chose Izaty's in large part because of the outdoor pool and hot tub and the bar area. To pay as much as we did for 5 nights here and not be able to use them was a massive disappointment, especially for our young grandchildren.
Our occomadations have anyways been excellent. However, the resort has deteriorated significantly. Multiple closures of the resort contributed to this deterioration.I do believe that there could be better up-keep on the sidewalks and parking lots and plant life. (Stumps of dead plants and trees are left in place). One of the golf courses has closed and is an eye sore.

Golfing was rough. Course is in rough shape. Also the beverage cart skipped multiple groups. So it is rough.

Stay somewhere else. Terrible lodging and customer service. Spent over $700 to stay in a Villa for two nights. Dishes were dirty, needed to be vacuumed and the AC didn't work. We were staying with two babies so AC was important for a hot weekend. They said they'd fix it and didn't. Also smoke detectors were not installed and just laying around. Stairs were very steep with no functional railing at the top, not to code. (A good lawsuit if you're looking for one).
Worst part is they said they'd bring it up to management and that they'd call me before charging my credit card and never did. They gave me a measly $40 credit and charged a $125 cleaning fee when the place was gross. Stay at the casino instead.
Rooms: Dirty
Safety: Very unsafe
Noteworthy details: Shady management

we have been looking time guests at the village of izatys for almost 15 years, and we have never had any major issues when utilizing the the resorts pool and hot tub until this year. We stayed over the weekend of July 26-29 and used the pool. The pool was a murky green color and couldn't see the bottom of the pool. It was the worst I have ever seen the pool in all the years I have been there. The pool light was sitting on the side of the pool where kids could trip on it. And Sunday night my son started getting a fever and severe diarrhea that lasted a few days along with a few of the other kids that were swimming with us. The kids did ingest the pool water as they would dive under water and jump in and since they were all 7 and under they do get done water in there mouths. yes we told them not to ingest the water but it happens. and all symptoms were the same for the kids that ingested pool water. On Monday they closed the pool and did not open the rest of the week while my family was there. this was the worst experience we have had there and no answers as to why the pool was so murky.
First thing you'll "learn" after being at the resort in any area is that it was recently purchased by 28 people, unless you happen to meet the grandson of one of the buyer who will tell you his grandpa is the new owner and he works there, he's about 11-13 years old so I'm not saying much more than if one of the owners family is working there, first thing they should be taught is to work, not tell everyone they see who they are.
It's apparent the priorities of the new owners are a bit off. There is a self-serve wine dispenser that was put in the bar area. The actual bar has very little to offer as far as decent alcohol and the variety of mixed drinks we tried were all awful from a margarita to a vodka tonic. The food was worse, ordered medium cooked steaks and received leather at best. One steak was caked in coarse salt that made it close to inedible on top of being dry and beyond well done. Was supposed to come with a bourbon glaze I asked to have left off so cook apparently decided to swap it for a ridiculous amount of salt using it like shake-n-bake. Instant mashed potatoes had large bites of dried potato flakes in them, and vegetables were overcooked and over seasoned.
The grounds of the resort including pool area are neglected at best. Weeds overgrown in flower beds and coming up through brick and stone on pathways. Blacktop walkway from hotel to restaurant, golf club area was scraped to be resurfaced but obviously that didn't happen. Large black landscaping fabric pieces all over the volleyball area, net poles are wood, rotten and leaning in. Pool area offered limited seating with any shade, I think there were 4 tables with umbrellas. No awning over bistro counter so both customer and employee left to cook in the sun. The stools at the bistro counter are fabric cushioned and disgusting from wet suits sitting on them. Bistro offered little as far as beverages and no food so not sure why it's called a bistro. All beverages and food overpriced given the lack of quality and no skill cooks preparing what could have been a decent meal.
The hotel is an actual joke from check in to check out. Literally so asinine it was comical.
Went to desk in early afternoon to inquire about a room, bartender said price of rooms was around $180. After seeing a sign that desk was closed giving a number to call, we received help in about 10 minutes. Paid $240 for a king bed room. Was the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. The shower head was old and useless. No pool towels. This hotel/resort offers absolutely no breakfast options anywhere on the resort. After asking several people I was finally able to find coffee in the gift shop out of a machine. No vending machines in the hotel at all.
Basically no reason to go to Izaty's anymore unless you want to buy a wine tumbler which seems to be the most thought the new owners put into anything at all, they're all over on display.

New ownership is making great changes and updates here.
Our family has been coming to Izaty’s for nearly 20 years. We are excited to see all the updates and changes that the new ownership is making to the resort in 2024! Lots of amenities are finally back including restored golf courses, clubhouse dining & updated pool area.
Golf course is trash. Could be so amazing but they just don't care. Do not go here.
My husband and I stayed here for a fishing tournament and the service was impeccable. They are under new ownership and it seems to be coming together well. We only had one small issue with the power for our boat but it was solved right away and we were all plugged in. The hottub was down for maintenance when we arrived but was up and running the next morning and we took advantage of it. The restaurant was packed and service was stellar. One night we had prime rib. While I wasn’t a fan of the sides, the meat was cooked perfectly (might I recommend adding fresh horseradish to the offering)! The next evening we had burgers; my husband loved the bison and my portobello burger was to die for! The front desk staff were all so kind. We stayed in room 2001, a king suite, and I highly recommend this layout even if it’s just two people! They are spacious and offer great views of the marina and golf course.
Excited to see what more the new ownership does with this resort. We will be back!

Nice, albeit small, hotel room. Grounds were gorgeous. Desk staff was very helpful. Only stayed one night during off season.
