Great hidden restaurant off the path. Yummy sweet corn on the cob as a side option. Good home style meals at a good price. The fixed the snafoo with our bill expertly (they were super busy) and even comped our drinks. Great people great place

We were excited to try this restaurant. For several of us in the group, we were first timers, and I’m always game to try something new.
The location is quite pretty. The restaurant sits on top of a hill overlooking a lake. Sort of. The lake is on the other side of the road and there are several trees, too, but it is a nice view.
While several in our group ordered off the main menu, I decided to try the special of beer-battered cod. I don’t normally go for fried fish, but I decided to give it a try.
While we waited, the restaurant slowly filled up. Clearly it seemed like a popular place.
The food looked quite delicious when it arrived. However, I was really disappointed in the fish. Definitely fried too hard, it had a hard crunch to it when I bit into it. However, the sweet potato fries were quite tasty.
Most everyone said the food was OK. My son liked the flavor of the Prime Dipper, but thought it could use a little less fat.
Parking seemed ample when we were there.
So would I try it again? I like to give restaurants a second chance, so I’m guessing we’ll go again when we come back up next year. But for now, I just can’t rate it any higher.

Was SO disappointed when we went to the Hilltop for Dinner..... We are locals and this is one of our all time favorite places to eat. We have celebrated a lot of events at this restaurant and my Husband's family have been going since they opened. We have also introduced so many to the Hilltop that had no idea it was even there. We had a friend come in from out of state and we figured what better place than to take him to have the best food in our area then at the Hilltop restaurant. We were a little concerned with how busy it would be being the day before the 4th of July, also with the road construction.. we had to drive out of the way to get there but we knew it would be worth it. So we made reservations. Upon arrival seeing they weren't busy that was a breathe of fresh air. That place can get pretty loud when there are a lot of people. She gave my party the option of seating outside or inside. We chose inside. There was 6 of us. We had our drinks and orders taken efficiently and were starving after a day on the lake! My friend being from Long Island we talked him into having the special it had walleye in it and he had never had walleye so obviously this was perfect. We received our meals in a timely fashion except our friend. We were told his would be out shortly. We all waited with respect for him... but then it got so long all our food was getting cold. Mind you we had big meals not just burgers and sandwiches. We had prime rib and steaks. So we started to eat..... nothing... few more false hopes... and then had the waitress come back again saying 3 mins. We all had finished our meals at this point had the dishes stacked up and still nothing. So that's he said at this point just cancel it. And she said well there anything I could do for you and he said I would like a piece of cheesecake. Obviously he wasn't expecting this cheesecake on the house. But I sure was LOL I just thought it was completely inconsiderate and poor customer service of them not even to let this guy have a complimentary piece of cheesecake when he had to sit and watch us all eat. . Should have been on the house. It was extremely embarrassing to brag up this restaurant we frequent and bring our guest to sit there and wait, not eat and then you're gonna charge him for the cheesecake when you couldn't even provide his meal? Our tab was 230.00... not even a apology at the end.... Do better Hilltop. You are one of thee top resturants in our area. If you can't provide at least have better customer service and MAKE IT RIGHT!

Food and service are exceptional. Very comfortable, friendly atmosphere. Love that you can use their dock across the street (Long Lake) to come off the water for a quick bite to eat.
