Vacationaire Resort & Clancy's on Island Lake

Almost thirty-five years ago I honeymooned here with my ex-wife. I stopped back in on my way through today and, while a lot has changed, the North Woods ambiance and the friendliness of the “new” owners and the locals at Clancy’s is the same if not even better than before, and the food was terrific. I had the broasted chicken, which was crispy, juicy, and perfectly done, real mashed potatoes with country gravy, and the best coleslaw I’ve ever had. The beer was cold and the reception was warm. As a bonus I got to enjoy the first snow of the season with a group of new friends. I’m glad I decided to come back up and check it out. I was more than pleased and look forward to coming back often.

We ate Tuesday hamburger special and then back on Thursday night for the taco dinner. Outstanding service and food was great. Awesome atmosphere!! Looking forward to when we get get back up there.

Love this place and have been going for years every time I am in Park Rapids!

Au Gratin potatoes are potatoes in nacho cheese sauce. Walleye fish and chips are frozen fish and frozen potatoes. Pretty disappointed.

Food and drinks: Salad bar was a variety of toppings and 2 mixed salads. With a reasonably priced entree [fettucine] my companion ordered boasted chicken and liked it very much. The view from Clancy's is outstanding. Unfortunately, the band canceled due to the rain we received that night. It was a delicious dinner and we had a cheerful and efficient waitress.

We came to Clancy’s Restaurant. We picked eating outside to enjoy the view-well worth the trip here. Excellent service! Fresh walleye in the fish & chips!!

We absolutely love Clancy's. I was born and raised in MN, but the military had taken me away from here for a little over 22 years. I came back and moved to this area as I always loved it. Although having a home here, we still come here and stay. We recommend all our friends and family to do so as well. We love the people, the atmosphere, and the food there is always top-notch. The cabins are always clean, and they are pet friendly. If you need something, ask and you shall receive.
They didn't have coffee in the new cabin, and my mother and aunt went up to have some at the restaurant. Nikki (owner) asked about it after they each had a few cups each and wanted to know how much they owe. She refused to allow them to pay, not knowing coffee wasn't replaced in the cabin, and she gave them coffee on the way out. That's just an example of their hospitality. Their kindness goes beyond that of mere coffee.
Although I don't live in MN any longer, I do try to come back as often as possible, and when I do, I make it a point to ALWAYS stay for a time at Clancys! You just can't go wrong with good people, good food, good drinks, good service, and a nice comfortable place to lay your head after a good time!

Our room was big, beautiful and newly renovated. I would highly recommend a stay here. We had a full kitchen. The food in the restaurant was delicious, the drinks at the bar were good. All very positive things to say.
