I had an extremely disappointing experience today (9/13/25) at this location of The Original Pancake House.

As someone with a severe peanut allergy, I always order the potato pancakes because they’ve been safe for me in the past, and I’d even consider myself somewhat of a potato pancake connoisseur. Today, however, they were inedible. After eating just half of one pancake (out of eight), I noticed a startlingly bitter flavor. To make matters worse, the potatoes inside were completely undercooked and very crunchy. I was finding potato bits in my permanent retainer in my mouth for the next hour.

My server was excellent — attentive and understanding — but my interaction with the manager was unacceptable. She insisted that the pancakes were “supposed” to be like this, as if I had no idea what they were supposed to taste like, then told me to pick something else off the menu. When I asked if they had an allergen menu (since this is the only thing I’ve ever safely eaten here), she said no and dismissed my concerns by claiming that “tons of people with peanut allergies have eat here,” despite the menu having a warning about peanut allergies on it. She then offered to comp the pancakes (of which I ate less than 1/16th) if I didn’t want to eat the pancakes— essentially leaving me with no safe options or inedible food, while I watched my friends eat.

Overall, it was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing visit to a chain I usually love. See the first photo for what I was served today, and the next four photos for what potato pancakes at other Original Pancake House locations have looked like over the past year, because, yes, I am a huge fan of these pancakes and know how they should taste. Trust me: you’re better off at any other location.

Delicious thick 4 egg omelets and buttermilk pancakes, served with fresh hot coffee. What else could you ask for at the Original Pancake House, except for chocolate chip pancakes with a dolop of whipped cream on top and ham steak with over easy eggs. If you're looking for delicious breakfast foods like the pancakes, omelets, and meats served at The Original Pancake House you won't be disappointed. They also have lunch items as well such as burgers and sandwiches. Anytime is the right time for pancakes! We were at the one in Plymouth, Minnesota and enjoyed every bite. Try it for yourself when you're up that way.

I've been a staunch Original Pancake House supporter since living close to the Eden Prairie location over 10 years ago. This place continues to impress me over and over again. I get takeout at least monthly and the food is always terrific. I had a VERY slight issue with a takeout order recently at the Plymouth location and decided to write an email to the manager about it. I was hoping for an acknowledgement of my irritation and perhaps a slight refund. What Jessica the store manager did to make it right went above and beyond my wildest hopes. She was sincere, thoughtful, and easy to deal with. I have told countless people about my recent amazing experience here and will continue to do so. Thank you to Jessica for making my day and I will be back many times!

We arrived on a Tuesday at 11:30 am. We had to wait for 10 min because there was not enough staff. We were sat at a dirty table. Next to us on the floor, was a huge spill of water, someone used a hand towel to wipe the floor. The server was disinterested and seemed like she regretted all of the choices in her life up to this point. I still tipped her 20% even though she was an angry robot.

Btw, the new decor is like a cheap hotel.

Their pancakes truly are legendary. I prefer this location over Maple Grove as there's usually less of a wait time, and it has more of a diner feel here.

Up next for waitlist they let 4-5 groups go ahead of us that checked in after. We were left sitting for 30-40 min before finally leaving. Used to love going to the Wayzata location.
