Beautiful bar & restaurant nestled on top hill overlooking river. Steaks were good but over cooked. Great salad dressings but didn't care for the tree leaf salad. Would rather have iceberg lettuce salad. Outdoor area nice but cramped. They have pull tabs which we find fun.

My husband and I, along with another couple, ate here last night for the first time. We were all totally impressed! Our first impression had us saying “wow”, as the ambience of building yelled north woods lodge. We love the log structure and all the decor. Then the food - between us we had the sort rib stroganoff, strawberry salad, the special double patty burger, wedge salad and a side of wild rice hot dish. It was ALL delicious. Lastly, our service was great and the manager (?) made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be coming back and will bring others. Thanks for being a top notch restaurant!

As long as I have been alive, my family has been coming to Thunder Lake, and by extension, Deerhaven. I have seen the many iterations and owners through that time and can confidently say this is the best yet. The service each time we went this summer was fantastic; attentive, friendly, and very welcoming. The food is what you would expect from a restaurant situated on a lake in Northern MN but they do it better than any other I have been to. A focus on scratch-made and quality ingredients all while honoring the favorite items that people come in for. You can get a walleye dinner that's as classic as you remember, or you can get a Po' Boy and spice things up a bit. The beer list has something for everyone and the cocktail selection is great too. It's also great for families - my 8 year old was never unhappy with her meal and LOVED the Root Beer! I am so happy to see Deerhaven bustling every time I go in and can't wait to get a warm meal after getting out to hunt the area in the fall!

The Hidden Gem of Central (Northern) MN Cabin Country ! We had a group of 6 and amazing service(!) You know, the kind no one but Moonlight Bay on the WFC can do- Well, this couple has figured out how to bring amazing, REAL food (not just warming up or frying what comes in on a truck) and fun creative cocktails upstairs at dinner, plus the cool Bar under the deck, manned by Paul(???) for pre or post dinner fun. This is what going out used to be like?? Go, you’ll LOVE IT.
