When we arrived we were informed that they had no menus but we could have a choice of 3 different proteins. They had no appetizers, no ice tea, just water with or without ice. There was no one else in the restaurant. We stayed for about 10 minutes, being ignored after receiving our water, and then left. Very disappointing! I was looking forward to good Ethiopian food.

This restaurant recently changed hands. It was Ethiopian and now serves Somali food. The food was delicious. The restaurant is not fancy, but the staff is friendly and the food is good.

BEST BIRYANI I've had in Minnesota! Should specify, under new management. Staff was incredibly kind and gracious to me and my friends being vegetarian, were also accommodating to my one friend that has trouble with spice. Wonderful food, wonderful people

This was legitimately the worst meal I have had in years. And that’s saying something, because I eat my meals with toddlers and frequently deal with screaming and bathroom accidents at dinner.
We enter the restaurant at 5. There is no-one at the desk, and one person eating. We wait for a few moments, and then ring the bell for service. Our waitress comes out, greets us, and asks if we’re familiar with Somali food. I say yes, and rather than giving us a menu, she rattles off a few things we could order. I am confused, because this is the first time I’ve ever been in a restaurant where I haven’t been given a menu. I take it in stride, and ask if we can sit down to order. She acts confused and says “I guess.” I decide to just ask her what would be a good order for two adults and three small children, she suggests the family plate, and I go along with it. I ask if they have injera bread, and after a beat, she says “oh we’ve discontinued the injera bread.” I see now from other reviews they had a mold problem, but I don’t know that yet.
It was at this point that we should have known better and left- but we are nothing if not stubborn, and so we stayed. My wife took my children across the street to the nearby park (the only good thing about this experience) while we waited for the food. During the wait I saw the only other diner in the building ring the bell continually for about five minutes before the waitress came and asked for payment while he clearly berated her in Somali, which I cannot understand, but I understand gestures.
The food came on a single platter (which I expected) with rice, three types of meat, pasta, and a small salad. We were not given silverware, plates, napkins, or drinks. The waitress left before asking if we wanted any of this, but to her credit, she did come back quickly to ask (which makes me wonder if someone in the back reminded her, but who knows). We EVENTUALLY got all these things. Well, almost- inexplicably, my three children were given plates, while my wife and I were stuck eating over our napkins. I would have asked for a plate, but she didn’t come back.
At the end of this truly bizarre, terrible dining experience, I paid $49.95 for good rice, awful spaghetti, decent goat and beef, and BBQ chicken that tasted just like the kind I used to make when I worked at a grocery store (to the point that I am pretty sure it came from a grocery store). We left a tip, because despite all of this, the little girl behind the counter playing deserves a decent life.
I hope that whatever magic got this place such good reviews is able to come back. I will not.

The restaurant had no aroma. It doesn't smell like food, coffee, or incense, which makes me wonder if the food is cooked there or frozen and microwaved. We were not given the vegetarian food we ordered. Instead, were given meats.
The injera is store bought and had molds on it. The ceilings have water damage, and the bathroom requires using a pitcher for flushing.
Ethiopian food is my favorite, so I'll probably go into Minneapolis next time and try a different place instead of this one right by my house.

They have just switched from Mediterranean food to mostly Somalian food. I had the goat and rice and my husband had the Doro Wot. The spices were amazing and the goat was extremely tender. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We are definitely going back!

Amazing Ethiopian food, woman owned and operated, Muna has put her life into this restaurant. We are so grateful that she supported our school, when we took a trip to Africa in our Junior Crusaders Preschool Program. The kids were enthralled with the new food they were able to try! Thank you Muna for being a beacon of love in our community!
Please don’t go to this restaurant . Worst Ethiopian food and service . If you give feedback they just don’t take it and are rude . I would not suggest . Rather go to Karat , Mesob and other better restaurant . Food has raw smell, burnt smell .

Super delicious, staff was super friendly. Loved the tea
This was one of my best restaurant experiences locally. The new owners have completely redone the inside and it’s a really great space. The people working were exceptionally accommodating and made sure before we decided on our food that they had explained each dish so that we knew what we were ordering. This will quickly become a new favorite.
