Staples, Minnesota, has good espresso!
Everywhere I travel, I search for good espresso. Outstanding espresso bars have become quite common in larger cities and urban settings around the United States but are noticeably less common in rural communities and small towns. Stomping Grounds in my hometown bucks that small town trend, pulling espresso shots that are rich, bright, and delicious, with a wonderful aroma and lovely crema.
I visited several times on this trip, and the service was invariably friendly. The shop’s decor is rustic and coffee focused, and the atmosphere reflects a steady flow of loyal, local customers.
The prices are reasonable, although the price for the standard double espresso ($4) is a little high and a little strange, relative to the prices for a single shot ($1.75) or a quad ($4.50). And the espresso would be even better in an actual espresso cup, rather than a coffee mug or 16 oz to-go cup (which is why there are no photos of the actual espresso). Still, these are minor observations for areas of potential improvement in the context of an otherwise terrific experience.
Given my love for a nice espresso, I’m grateful for Stomping Grounds. I will be back every time I visit my hometown.

First time going my drink was wonderful plenty of options and blends and a small merch shop was just cute but the server was very rude and stuck up just hope you don’t get her when going otherwise I think it was a cute shop thank you!

Great coffee flavors- got a pistachio macaroon blended latte and it is Devine! Also a cool little sticker collection with unique pictures and phrases that are hilarious! 😆 I was laughing in the shop!

Stomping Grounds is now serving Dirty Sodas and they are amazing! I went to get coffee one morning before school and saw that they offered them and I just had to try it! They offer Sprite or Coke and mix tasty syrup flavors with creamer to make a whole new side of soda that's exquisite! My favorite is the Dirty Sprite with Blue Raspberry and Strawberry. I definitely recommend it! Go try it now!

After a full morning of projects, my husband and I were trying to decide on a place for lunch. We popped into Stomping Grounds to say hello and I caught a glimpse of their lunch menu. We decided to try something new.
We were very happy we did. I had the buffalo chicken wrap: melty cheese, crisp toasted wrap, perfect amount of fresh spinach, and the other ingredients made it the best local sandwich I’ve had in a long time.
I’m shocked the shop doesn’t get more lunch traffic. We are going to make this a regular stop.
Stomping Grounds is an excellent location for little kids! It’s easy, safe, and a great place for parents to sit back & watch their babies play. They have great food for lunch / snack than mostly all kids enjoy these days. Love it here!

Bagels! It's great having a "food" option before 11. Bagels (toasted or not) and cream cheese help balance out the caffeine.
Always the funniest staff. The owner is almost always in and she knows my order so well. I love hearing other customers come in and say "whatever Brenda usually gets", or "Surprise me."
