Great place in a great historic city; the staff are extremly pleasant and informative offer suggestions for drinks and menu offerings . Our service, Jessica T was very hospitable, fun and made some great suggestions. The portions are plentiful and moderately priced.
We called into this bar several times over the week we visited Stillwater. The staff are really friendly, the beer is reasonably priced and the food was really good. A very nice experience in a very well kept bar.
The food was fast and delicious! The restaurant has an interesting and cool history. The service was top notch! Our waitress brought us an extra pickle out of the kindness of her heart. 10/10!

Stopped for lunch and had a wonderful experience here! The food was delicious and came out quickly, the service was wonderful, the history of the building was very interesting and they have fun decor. I had the BLT with avocado and fries - very yummy!

5 Stars all around! What a great night at the Capper! The vibe is relaxed and fun. The food menu is extensive. (It’s not just “bar food”.) Definitely try the Steak Bites! And their Squash & Sprouts salad is to die for! The drink menu is so creative. It’s hard to choose just one. And finally, the staff here is really friendly and respectful! The Mad Capper is our new favorite Stillwater restaurant! Can’t wait to be back!

Great cocktails!
I haven't been here for years but apparently they have gone fancy... ordered a smashburger, it wasn't really smashed but was decent. Sat at the bar, must have been a new bartender as she really struggled... also told us about how she'd change the menu while our beer glasses sat empty. Place was not crowded but left as service was so slow.

Walleye sandwich is now heavily breaded fingers with hardly any walleye. Do not order! You will be disappointed! The old sandwich was great but not anymore.....so disappointed!!!

My wife and I stopped by 1-27-2025 for a late lunch after visiting the snow scultures at Lowell Park. The service was a bit slow. Maybe understaffed on a Monday? But the food was great. We started with an order of onion rings. And they were probably the best onion rings I've ever had. Not greasy at all and the breading was firmly attached to the onion rings on every bite. I had a small Caesar salad while my wife had a cup of soup. The salad was very generous in size. I had to ask my wife if I ordered the "small". It was a large plate of Romaine lettuce and dressing. Very tasty. We also split the walleye sandwich. Although the sandwich is walleye fingers, cutting the sandwich in-half still gave each half a lot of walleye. The fries that came with the sandwich were also quite good. It was a very delightful lunch in a very cool looking historic building.
Parking: There is a free public parking lot up the hill from the restaurant. There is also street parking. But it's Stillwater, so don't bet on finding a street spot nearby.

Food took 50 minutes and they weren't very busy. You could tell the fish and fries sat in the window for awhile. Chicken sandwich was under whelming for the price. We had them remake our fries as well. When we told the bartender and food runner about the food they said sorry.

Overall was not a good experience. The drinks were amazing and our waitress was wonderful. However, the food was not so good. There were 4 of us, grilled cheese and walleye was good! However the fries were disgusting. They were overcooked and no flavor. The wraps were awful! Basically hamburger meat in a wrap, no flavor, dry, and the “chopped” onions were not chopped. My friend started choking on a long onion peel. The worst part, the food runner was moving so fast she literally dropped the cup of ketchup on my friend’s shirt sleeve leaving a stain. Ketchup went into her drink. Horrible! And did she apologize? No. Thankfully our waitress came back and helped clean up. She came with soda water to pull the stain out. If you visit, just order drinks but not good! Thank you to Laurie our Waitress, she was a breath of fresh air.

My wife decided to have an early dinner and each ordered a burger medium. Both the wife and myself thought it was one of better burgers we've had in a long time. Kudos to our waitress and a bigger kudos to the people in the kitchen that did an excellent job preparing our meals. Thank you so much!
