Visit Thief River Falls

Thief River Falls is a vibrant and very beloved small northwestern Minnesota town, with very engaged, friendly, hardworking, and family-oriented residents that have a great sense of community! And people here fervently believe in shopping local and supporting small, privately-owned and/or family-owned establishments, which is wonderful :)

The downtown area has Lots of charming retail locations, bars, restaurants, hair salons, a great barber shop, a liquor store, and even a brewery and a candy store! Downtown TRF is also very walkable, with plenty of free parking and bike parking racks, as well. Plus, there are So many parks, walking and biking paths, and Gorgeous river views and access all around town! And the super friendly, chipper, personable, and kind customer service that you’ll receive, most any and everywhere you go (both here, and in the neighboring small towns), will truly Spoil you and nearly cause you to forget how rare of an experience that is most anywhere else in the country.

In addition, the city and county do an Awesome job of frequently investing in maintaining and enhancing the local infrastructure (i.e. roads, parks, bike lanes, snow plowing, etc.), and also in providing great family-friendly community events — many of which are free! With one example being the free summer concerts that are held in Floyd B. Olson Park on Tuesday evenings, that feature Really really top notch and Very impressive musical talent!!! (These free concerts are organized and hosted by the owner of Kezar’s Music, in collaboration with the city.)

Plus, free outdoor movie nights have also been held by a local business several nights this summer, too! So there’s So much available to do to keep one entertained, out of the house, and enjoying the warm weather during the summer months! And residents actually manage to stay just as busy and active throughout the winter, as well, doing enjoyable activities such as: ice fishing, hockey, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, bowling, going to the movies, or hitting the casino — which even has a fun indoor waterpark!

You’ll be surprised to know that DoorDash and UberEats food delivery services are both available here in TRF, too, along with grocery delivery services (provided by Hugo’s and Walmart). And, in addition to the town having Lots of bike, electric bike, and electric scooter riders, there are also great public transportation options, as well, to include: a cash-based shuttle/bus service called T.H.E. Bus, a reliable taxi service that charges flat rates (Northland Taxi), a regional airport that offers flights to-and-from Minneapolis, and rental cars (or more specifically, SUV’s) available at that local airport — with an advance online reservation.
