Great location on the lake and nice venue. Food was mediocre with greasy fries. A couple of flies joined me for my meal. It was not busy mid-afternoon and service was fairly good.

Sat outside and appreciated the timely service. We ordered right before the kitchen opened for the day and our food came out very fast. Everything was good, typical bar food and view was nice.

As someone who works at a Northern Minnesota resort in the summer I really do not understand the low rating for this place. Super cool atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food served lakeside with awesome patio seating. Pretty much all you can ask for this far north.....Wish It was the weekend so I could have checked out the outside bar

Live music, lake views on multiple deck layers. Dock staff is top notch and the property is very well kept. The owner throws live music events throughout the summer and staff is on point. 👌🏻

If you go here, prepare to wait. Bring a board game! Both times we’ve gone for dinner it’s been a 2 hour + wait. The extra star is for our lovely server Liz who was busting her ass all night to help us and the 40 other tables in her section. This place is chronically understaffed. The wait staff are sweet, they just seem so stressed. It’s unfair that management won’t hire more people for the summer. I imagine it’s difficult to hire seasonally, but there has to be a way. As we were waiting for our food we saw three different tables get up and walk out because it took over 30 minutes to put in drink orders. The food is bad, but since you’ve been waiting 2+ hours, it somehow tastes delicious.. you are hard pressed to find a vegetable here, which is sadly the case in the North Woods in general. Our family misses Bayview and the amazing food and service that we received there. Also shouldn’t it be called Tavern ON the bay? Not in..

We had a 50th birthday brunch catered by Dave and his crew. Everything was fabulous with an incredible brunch, mimosas and atmosphere . Kenzie and Sarah were both top notch with a special shout out to Michelle for making it all come together.

My wife and I have eaten at the Bay on a number of occasions and have found the food to be average at best. However, the location on the lake provides a nice setting for a dinner experience so we've gone back several times thinking that things would improve. Sadly to say they keep getting worse. Our last visit was with special friends visiting us from out east. Sadly to say the experience was almost embarrassing. Three of us ordered wraps with chips and I ordered the California burger. Everything was overcooked and soggy. I could have pounded nails with my hamburger, that is how well done it was. To make matters worse they charged me $1 extra for the thin slice of extra onion on my burger and $3 for the salad that was suppose to be substituted for the fries on one of the meals. They even charged a $1 for the dressing for the salad. To make matters worse, the noise level from the bar made it next to impossible to have a decent conversation during our meal. From now on I will be going down the road to the Vermilion Club. Maybe the noise level is about the same but at least you get a good meal for the money you spend.

I would like to preface the following review by saying this is the first time I have ever wrote a review, so I’m not a person who generally complains. This was our 4th attempt to dine here and unfortunately 3 out of the 4 were disappointing. You may ask, why would we keep trying? Well to be honest we were really really hoping it would improve. The location and atmosphere are incredible and we were thinking with summer in full swing they would be fully staffed and have things figured out. Service was horrible! Not only for us but several other patrons who were voicing their dissatisfaction as well. We witnessed 3 individual couples wait over a half our just to be acknowledged by the wait staff and eventually leave after approx 45 minutes without ever even being asked if they’d like to order a drink. Once we were finally able to order and wait for another 1/2 hour our waitress returned to notify me that they could not make the steak salad I ordered because the ran out of steak! Things didn’t improve from there. Not that they could care but we will not try again.
Took 2 hours to get food. And it wasn't good. Do not recommend. My family dinner was ruined.

I really wanted to give a higher review of this place. The lake view is gorgeous! I am a fan of the decor inside and love the garage doors being open to the amazing patio in the summer. But twice now, we have gone just for cocktails, and while we were greeted rather quickly for that first drink, we had to go into the bar and find our server. The first time this happened, we left after the 1 cocktail. During our second visit, after searching for our server, my cousin asked for another round and told her it was just 2 beers and a vodka stoli. She then said she had to get a note pad to remember and took at least another 5+ minutes to come out with our drinks. While that isn't a long time to wait when they are busy,I can say they were not busy by any means for that long of a wait time. Did not try the food, so I can not rate it. While I am sure the patio will bring us back during the summer, I would like to one day say it is for the service, I am hopeful that will improve in the future and I can change my review.
