Whalan MN is a place I hold dear to my heart. We have stayed here as a family for many years and we always make time for the Aroma Pie Shoppe. The banana cream pie is my personal favorite. Definitely stop here if you are in the area.

I wish the pie wasn’t as great as it was. We had the strawberry rhubarb, apple and pecan pie. All were great, especially the pecan.
Our group ordered over 100$ total of pie and ice cream. We ordered two whole pies. After we got them, we asked for a plastic knife and some forks and they would not give us any! I was shocked. We had even tipped 20$ before we got our food.
I understand “policy” for ordering a whole pie but we felt very uncomfortable after that. We had other friends that were eating too and asked if they could try to get some utensils. Apparently they have cameras and microphones and a manager told us that they “heard what we were up to”.
The pie was great. They definitely know how to make them. Our initial cashier was also very friendly and helpful. Hope they don’t mind handing out some utensils in the future…
The good pie was overshadowed by the lady behind the counter arguing with us about getting a few extra plastic disposable forks to share our pie. Let me repeat, she was so stingy that she refused to give us extra disposable forks to share a whole pie...at a pie shop. Then she told us that she was eavesdropping on our conversation in the lobby via the security cameras and "knew what we were saying."
Creeped out, annoyed, not going back.

Stopped by Aroma yesterday after long bike ride . Our vanilla cream pie with fresh fruit was delicious. Pie crust was thin and flaky , cream was perfect sweetness . Now enjoying our cherry pie with tea .Both pies top Betty’s in two harbors . We will be back .

My turkey club came with lettuce that clearly had black, slimey, rotten edges. For the cost, I would think quality control would be a virtue at this shop. Also, the African American young lady who was making the sandwiches, dishing up pie, and tending the cash register did not wash her hands or use disposable gloves when alternating tasks. I wonder what the county inspectors would think if they observed this. The pie was pretty good, but not worth $6.50. I must give the young lady her due- she was quite busy working the counter by herself, but she remained pleasant and focused on customers. A little help would have been in order, even if occasionally.
