“Been 30+ years since I had one. SLINGER at Chili Macs Diner. Original OT Hodge recipe. 2 cheeseburgers, 2 eggs, hashbrowns, covered in chili. Plus toast! Tastes the same! Soo Good! The waitresses are definitely old school and a lot of fun. Wish I had their energy. 11/10“

“After reading the exceptional reviews, I decided to go and obtain my own opinion.... I can’t say enough positive things about the service at Olivette Diner – it was excellent! Ms. Melinda and Mr. Vince are polite and attentive, both go above and beyond to provide a wonderful eating experience – They genuinely care about their guests. “This was such a nice quiet place tucked away. The meal pictured was just 1 meal we split in half between the two of us. So it's safe to say they don't skimp on the portions. Our wait staff was very friendly and quick with our service. Would very much recommend this for those looking for a smaller town/mom and pop type atmosphere.“

“Grilled ham and cheese was fantastic. Nice thick ham!!! Wife had the chili dog especially liked that it was cut in half and grilled then chili added!!! Our kid devoured the grilled cheese and my mom loved the frito pie!!! Whenever we are in the area we will stop in again!! Staff very accommodating and friendly!!!!“

“This this is a classic, old-school, local diner. If it were 1985, it would look the same. That is a great thing for most of the patrons who appreciate the fast service and classic diner specialties. Two things that have become popular since the 80s that I wish they would have adopted, one, some form of egg white omelette because some people can’t eat egg yolks anymore. And second, thing such as like lemon for iced tea or water would be really great. But, their core food menu is what diners expect and they attract a regular local crowd. It’s a benefit to downtown maplewood,
to have a classic old diner that still plays music from a CD jukebox. Also worth mentioning, it appeals to people who like a good deal as the menu still represents reasonable pricing.“

“When we travel, we always seek out a local diner. We found Spencer’s Grill and we weren’t disappointed. Place was packed on a Wednesday morning, which shows we found the right place! Typical diner menu, great vintage atmosphere and super friendly staff. Food was delicious, good portions, quick service. Sourdough toast was homemade, sausage gravy was a hit with real 1/2 & 1/2 and butter on the table. Will definitely be back!“

“I’ve been gone from St Louis for almost 6 years. I used to live right around the corner. I used to eat here late at night quite often. I miss Kevin’s creations. I’m a chef and this place is probably one of the things I miss the most. 3 am nights with Kevin. So happy to see this place is still there.“
