“The staff and management at this Applebee’s were very helpful with an issue I experienced, within their limitations. I dined in with a group of about 12 people, and receipts got mixed up where my card was charged for a tip that I had left in cash. Not a huge deal, as long as I can get my money back. The management at this location was helpful in resolving the situation, however Applebee’s corporate is either insanely cheap, or stupid. Apparently, either their card processor or Applebees corporate do not allow for refunds to occur onto a card. I would assume this is to avoid the processing fee on return charges to cards, as that is the only logical conclusion I can reach for a massive company to have so little capability within their system. It is truly insane to me that a nationwide chain doesn’t have the capabilities to refund money onto a debit card. For whatever reason this decision was made, it was not in the best interest of us diners. Again, this location was great. But Applebees corporate needs to be aware of how terrible a policy this is, and needs to change.”
