99% sure I got heated up leftovers from the night before. French fries were more like a mushy potato cake and the meat was comparable to dickeys barbecue pit. Lady behind the counter was nice and so was everyone inside.

Bates City BBQ is our go-to place for any kind of celebration, or just none at all. We live half an hour away, but still take that drive every month or two. We started coming there when they opened. I lived in Oak Grove so it was great food close by. When I left to move on in life every time I came back I always stop here. I'm talking about going out of my way for there food. All the meats are incredible but the fries are on another level. There fresh cut not frozen and there double fried. The greatest part is my kids are taking their kids to eat there. If your close by take the time to stop and eat. You will not be disappointed.
Absolutely the worst BBQ I have ever eaten. Cannot believe people eat there. Food was cold and the burnt ends were so tough we couldn't even eat them. Dude making the food was not friendly at all. Would not recommend. Go literally anywhere else Update still the worst restraunt I have ever been to!

I feel so sad leaving this review as I came here weekly growing up. This place used to have 5 stars from my whole family and has just went downhill for several years in a row now. Any place that microwaves meat right in front of you is wild as hell. We were also served old food, several of the items were just simply not edible. Service was fine but snoody. Not the place it once was. Save your hard earned money.

To get take out for 7 people. This BBQ is extremely good, delicious, awesome, addictive, tender, mouth watering, the best, etc. Just try it, you won't be disappointed. Also, you will be loving their pricing. It is lower than any BBQ in the Kansas City area. They also have the best fries and sides in town. I love this place!!!
