Recently, I was able to Enjoy Fellowship with friends and family due to the warmth of atmosphere, hospitality in Customer service, authenticity of flavors and spice integration.

This Local African-American owned business is ran by family members who not only cook well together, but love each other strongly. It is evident through the flavorful pallet and array. Of diversity and soul food.

If you are visiting St. Louis, this has to be one of your stops. The cuisine here is second to none.

Bon appétit

For the plastic containers, limited seating, and preparation, this food is insanely overpriced. Both the macaroni & white pasta (two different plates) tasted like the milk was spoiled, the sweet potatoes are overly sweet- sugar is the only flavor. The cornbread is flavorless, but had good texture. The baked chicken & fried chicken were great, however, the green beans had way too much oil. Thoroughly disappointed, I won’t be back.

Had a taste for soul food. I Found this place on google and it also had a few good reviews on tik tok. Drove 24 mins just to arrive to be told they had sold out. I attempted to call before I drove there but I got a message saying their mailbox was full. There is also no website. Google states that they close at 8 on Sundays. If you are a restaurant that operates until sold out, you should have a website stating that or you should have a working number . I’m not from MO, so I wouldn’t know. I’m here for work and I’ve been so disappointed with these Black-owned restaurants.

Mandela Soul Food – Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

First time trying this spot. The cashier was very nice, the vibe was cozy, and the price was accurate (they rang me up on a calculator, no games). I spent about $79 total including tip.

Food:
• Oxtails (9/10): Flavorful and tender, but not something I’d reorder here.
• Mostaccoli (9/10): I really liked it, but I know it won’t be for everybody.
• Cheesecake (10/10): Perfect.
• Potato Salad (8/10): Solid, but not the best.
• Mac & Cheese (7/10): A bit unusual, almost too busy.
• Yams (5/10): Overly sweet.
• Dressing (4/10): Mushy and too sweet.
• Green Beans & Cornbread: Missing.
Overall:
Cheesecake and mostaccoli were the standouts. Some sides missed the mark, and I was disappointed about missing items. I’ll come back, but I won’t spend as much — and I know what not to order next time.

Very pricey 95.00 for 2 people meal. 4 thin strips of catfish, oxtails was plentiful. Cheesecake sucks. Only open on Sunday.

I visited this business the Sunday before labor day because a favorite of mine was closed. The food was amazing! The wait though, was horrific. There were people who had been there waiting on their food for 30 minutes when I arrived and finally got their food 20-25 into my wait time. It was an hour before I received my food. The owner was very polite and transparent about being backed up with orders however, that doesn't excuse not being prepared for crowds on Sunday especially when another favorite in the area is closed. Have people on standby to come help out, prep the night before, have a better system in place, and watch your competition.

ALLERGY LIST IS NEEDED! I really wish they had some sort of allergy list on their menu or what most of the meals contained. I had an allergic reaction to their pasta and macaroni and I’ve never had an experience like that at any soul food place.

The service and chefs are amazing and super friendly and the environment was great. But everything, but their fried chicken, was a miss.

I didn't agree with the sweetness of dressing and Mac cheese. Didn't like the texture of the mash potatoes. I like my potato salad, and Lamb chops, and corn bread, and banana pudding.. Great hospitality .
