I found a place to get Persian food when I am homesick!! I got the hummus with pita, ghormeh sabzi (herb stew with beef) with Tahdig (crispy rice), beef koobideh skewers and loved it all. The ghormeh sabzi stood out to me. The flavor was so so good. And the crispy rice that came with it was nice and crunchy and such a good pair with the stew. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu! 10/10 recommend!!! Especially if you are wanting a warm and hearty meal on a cold day.

Wonderful food, generous portions. Needs some Persian music softly playing in the background to round out the atmosphere. Wonderful and friendly chef managing it all on his own.

First time at Esther’s though I’ve been meaning to try it for years. We started with the hummus and Turkish coffee. The hummus was one of the best we’ve had and we loved the extra oil drizzle. They provided a lot pita and it would be great to get a bigger serving of the hummus but we enjoyed the rest of the pita and olive oil. The pita was cooked perfectly- a little crispy and soft inside. The Turkish coffee was on the sweet side but robust. We asked about the cucumber yogurt dip. It features mint and one of our friends didn’t eat mint and the owner who waited on us and cooked the food to order offered to make it without mint. It was very refreshing and also served with pita bread. For our entrees we ordered the lamb shank, chicken kabobs, beef koobideh and chicken kabob combo and eggplant beef stew. We all really enjoyed our dishes and they were nice size portions for the money. The chicken was juicy with lots of sumac spices and the stew was very flavorful. The koobideh was a bit dry but had lots of flavor. The lamb was fall off the bone tender. All entrees were served with the fluffiest basmati rice and a grilled tomato. There wasn’t a side vegetable that would have been nice to add. This place was very quaint but no frills. We will be back.

Food was flavorful (not hot spicy) and fresh. Had a warm welcome from one of the owners, Patricia. Hope they open one in Kansas City!

I’ve eaten at this restaurant multiple times, and each visit has been a delight. The food is consistently delicious and full of comforting, familiar flavors. In fact, the taste reminds me so much of my dad’s cooking—it’s something very personal and nostalgic for me.

Reza, the owner, is incredibly kind and welcoming. His warmth and passion for good food truly shine through in everything he serves. You can tell that he puts his heart into every dish.

Thank you, Reza, for creating such a special place. I always leave feeling full and happy—and already looking forward to the next visit.

I really liked the food. Just off 2-70 and near DePaul Hospital. Relaxed setting for traditional Persian cuisine.

It's OK. My least favorite Persian restaurant I've been to in the US by far. First, the waitress was obviously high and smelled strongly of weed. She never gave us utensils. I even asked her and she said OK and never came back. I had to get up and get them myself.

She also forgot the tahdig appetizer we ordered and didn't start making it until about 45 minutes after. The tahdig was also the worst I've had. They don't use saffron and they grill it.

The salmon kabob wasn't a Kabob. It was just a fillet and it was also very poorly seasoned.
