7/17/25 I was shopping in St Peter's MO. I notice the food truck( who doesn't like Fish Chip ) plus a long line.. I saw the price for fish that didn't include fries which you pay extra( that kinda threw me off). Secondly they didn't have clam chowder or coleslaw.. Got thr food. This fish had no seasoning at ALL.. Tarter sauce was flavorless. Only thin
I was looking forward to going to this type of a Mobile Restaurant-a real Food Truck when they were in Mansfield yesterday. Based on the photos shown on FB & their Website I had basic expectations.
As it was to be expected to be busy-I ordered online prior. Even though there was a line when I arrived-they got my 5 stars review for the text message of the time & stayed within minutes after. Esp to the servers were working very hard to cook & fill orders.
Where this business fell short-was the portion size of the fish. They were 3 long, narrow Fish Stick like portions. Not one was even a little wider as expected. I also ordered 2 bottles of Soda, given out warm which was unexpected.
All in all a learning experience so I can’t recommend this experience as I had hoped.
I really wanted to enjoy this since my town doesn't offer a ton of variety. Bought 3-3 piece meals. Received 2-3 piece and 1 2 piece at home. Sadly, it was so overcooked on the ends of the fish it was inedible, but the inside of the cod was nice in places. The fries were decent.
I won't spent $60 again, however, and can't really recommend it! We could make the meal cheaper and better at home.
This was my first time at a food truck, so if there’s something going on with them, I’m probably not the one to ask. We went to the food truck this week, got there at 10:57, three minutes before they were supposed to open. They were having some kind of trouble and didn’t open the window until 11:14.
We got three very modest size fish pieces that cost $14. I’ve paid that much for good cod before, so that didn’t bother me any. It was good, but I’ve had just as good at Grand Slam in High Ridge, Missouri, and better at Schottie’s on Lindbergh— both were cheaper with much bigger portions.
The french fries were delicious, but I would consider it a small order and they were an outrageous $7. The coleslaw, with an Asian dressing, was also delicious. The serving size was so embarrassingly small—four bites—that its $3 price tag was just short of highway robbery. We also got a bottled root beer, which I think cost around seven dollars. Our entire bill was just shy of $30.
Again, my knowledge of food trucks is very limited, so maybe this is a normal experience price-wise at one. Nonetheless, I won’t be going back and I can’t recommend On the Hook.
Amazing food
Was excited to try it when and where I finally caught up to the truck Menards Moline, IL
Prices are crazy high, fish would probably have been great except it was over cooked crispy crunchy, not in a good way, and fish was dry. 1PM in the afternoon and were out of almost all sides and the only soda was their brand and it’s not too good.
The so called best chowder was horrible. It was so thick almost like a paste and needed more flavor. I got the 16 ounce and could only eat a couple of spoonfuls. Will never get it again. I was totally unsatisfied. Totally disappointed.
Went here for lunch today in St.Peters Mo by Fresh Tyme. The fish was very greasy. Could not eat the fish, it was so soggy and greasy. We have eaten this before in Troy Mo and it was good. But today it was bad.
Truck in Boonville, Mo on 5/17/25. I tried this as I always like to support local businesses. However, 3 pieces of fish with an additional piece of fish added was $19.82. Let's start with the fish has no seasoning at all. To top it off one piece was burnt. Additionally, I asked for Sriracha Mayo and was given Sweet Chili sauce as the condiment. It's absolutely bland fish and needed all the sauce to tolerate eating it. Don't waste your money!
To the truck in Jefferson City on 11/22/24. We ordered 2 fish and chips
That was Not a $39.00 meal. fish was cold and between the 2 meals we got 1 tarts sauce and when I approached the truck to get more sauces and stood there I know all 3 of you work the truck seen me because I made eye contact with all and you left me standing there till I got pissed and walked away. I won't be back!

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great tasting fish. The chips are fantastic too. First time trying the root beer and recommend also. Any time the food truck is around I try to stop by to get this delicious meal.
My friends have been telling me about this food truck for a year now and I finally understand why. This is some of the best fish I've had in a long time. I highly recommend everyone try this and I will definitely be catching them the next time around.

My mom and I stopped by the food truck when it was parked at Fresh Thyme in St. Peter’s, MO. It was so good!
I had been waiting weeks for them to be in St. Peter’s and it was well worth the wait! Best fish and chips I’ve ever had and I loved the sauce cups that come with it too! 💗
Service was great, the man who took our order was very nice and friendly! There was a lot of people so we had to wait a little bit but we just quickly shopped inside Fresh Thyme to pass the time.
Parking: It was a little cramped parking wise bc other people were there shopping in Fresh Thyme but didn’t take us too long to find a spot
Wheelchair accessibility: My mom used her walker today but it was easy enough to find a close parking spot and walk to order at the truck

Once you hunt them down and try their fish and chips you are on the hook! They are in many states now, so find them in FB and check when they are in your neck of the woods. Best fish and chips outside of UK and Ireland (so far). Portion is huge, so you better be hungry else it is perfect to share between the two. The only downside is one particular truck being way too pushy on the tips...
