One of our favorite restaurants in St. Louis. Tonight's food was excellent- chicken dish and crab cakes. New menu to us? They no longer offer the grilled pork chop-this was easily the best in St. Louis! Why in the world did it go away? There is no crab cake entree, only available as an appetizer. The new Greek salad was an excellent offering and the wine choices are always excellent. Not good that these two favorite went away!
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. This was our first time visiting this establishment, and I must say from start to finish, everything was great. We walked in and were greeted and promptly seated. Our server Sierra was friendly and knowledgeable. She also took pictures for us. The ambiance was warm and intimate, and the food was fabulous. They also gifted us with a card and dessert. Great evening
We frequent J Gilbert's & are never disappointed! Great food, drinks, service & atmosphere.
Food was delicious. We celebrated two birthdays and were served 2 free desserts. Sam was great server. Great experience!
JGilbert ‘s is a great place to dine. Great food, service and atmosphere. Katie is an excellent Server. She was kind, catered to our needs and help make our visit very pleasant.
Our experience was not what we expected. Food delivered appeared to have been pre-cooked and then finished when ordered, so not the best taste or presentation. Wedge salad delivered , the lettuce was brown from being old or sitting out. Order was confused. Not the best and definitely less than expected.
Food was excellent. Service, however, was not as good as it has been. Was not particularly busy, but service was slow-from being acknowledged and getting the drink order, all the way to getting the check. Not sure what the issue was. We will be back though.
A wonderful Easter dinner! We started with a wedge salad, then steak and ribs. The food was very good. Chocolate cake for dessert was to die for. Becca, our server, was outstanding—friendly, attentive and helpful.
Steak was cooked perfectly. Salmon was tender, juicy, and flavorful. Katie did a great job serving.
It is my daughter’s 16th birthday today and we made a reservation at their sister restaurant Bristol’s awhile back. It’s her favorite place to go because of the fried cauliflower. We got a call today and they had a fire so they couldn’t open but graciously made us a reservation at j Gilbert’s. My son got sick so I had to stay home but they called me and said they made her the fried cauliflower that she loves at Bristol’s tonight at j Gilbert’s!! My family said everyone is being so nice and definitely made my daughters night!! Thank you so much for all you did to make her 16th so special!! You guys are amazing!! I can’t thank you enough!!!

Wagu beef hamburger was terribly dry and wasn’t very good. Our group (22) spent good money but little attention to our food.

Nice venue. Great service. Scallops were salty and small. Rissoto was way salty. Sent first lobster back to kitchen because it was tough and dry, second lobster was a little better. Just a tablespoon of lump crab in the bisque with no sherry garnish. Steak was perfect.

They must be struggling to get staff. We didn’t get our drinks until we had been at the table for 35 minutes! Salad came before drinks. No bread. The food is good but we had to wave down a waitperson to get anything. It was our anniversary which made it worse.

I've been 3 times and every time the food is unimpressive or even overcooked when you add the price that is unacceptable. I expect to be wowed at their prices.
