Hickory Log Restaurant

Not the Hickory Log of the past. We have ordered carry out several times in the past 20 years, and the last three orders have been terrible. The days of the large, meaty, well seasoned ribs are long gone. #ripribs

The food is delicious. The service is superb! We live in Springfield MO and often make trips to the bootheel to visit family. We always time our trips to be able to stop for a meal. Love it

My family drives an hour to eat here every Christmas break. Appetizers are so good. I don’t like ribs, but others in my family say these are the best. Christmas decor is so neat.

Hickory Log has the ribs that all other restaurants aspire to have. They are tender but don’t just fall apart, they are well seasoned and oh that smoke! I e eaten ribs all over the USA and NONE stack up to Hickory Log’s ribs. I’ve been eating there most of my life and if you can’t tell… they’re my favorite!

My Papa used to bring these home when he when he was in Missouri making purchases for his art gallery. I try to bring some home whenever I’m within 2 hours of them. So good!!!

We had my brother-in-law’s 70th birthday here and I cannot say enough good things about Hickory Log. Jason went over and above to accommodate our VERY large group of family and friends. The food was excellent and I have to give a special thank you to our server, Leslie - she handled a crowd of 70+ people effortlessly and cheerfully. I highly recommend Hickory Log and will visit again on our next trip to Dexter.

Most of the time the food is good, but a LOT of people can NOT eat anything they have FRIED because they have a SHELLFISH ALLERGY. This place cooks all the fried foods in the same location where shrimp IS cooked. The atmosphere/service is good they’re friendly folks, but it stays a little warmer in this restaurant which would be prefect winter time but not all year round.

Talked to a lot of people that eat here and say that they’re kind of down due to because they can’t enjoy any type of appetizers or fried foods due to Shellfish allergies. Even some employees can not because it’s all cooked in the same area.

So with all of this being said hopefully this may help make some type change. Because A LOT more people have this exact ALLERGY and can NOT go out for date nights or small family events if they’re wanting to eat at this restaurant or a lot of other, because they will NOT cook the shellfish foods in separate locations.

However I do hope these places change things without refusing because it’s pretty sad some of you’re very own employees can’t enjoy half of the items that are served due to allergies they can NOT help.
