Showed up with the sun setting beautifully over the pond. The service was outstanding, playing with the fussy toddler that was tagging along. Great wine, great atmosphere, even better service. 5 out of 5.

We had a wonderful experience here. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We sampled some of the wine, rum, and brandy. It was all good! A must stop if you are in the area.

I went on a small tour of different wineries in Missouri recently, and Fence Stiles stood at the top of the list. Not only are their wines fantastic, but their cave wine tour is one of the best educational experiences I’ve had on a tour in a while. From the very start of the conversation (which it was, rather than “lecture”), it was clear how much thought and intentionality was given to each aspect of how and why they make wines the way they do. Definitely worth the money and time, and I look forward to my next visit back!

Short answer for busy scrollers: This place is great and you should go here. And for everyone else, here's why: Fence Stile is a labor of love. From grape to glass, every step is done with thought and heart, because they love doing this and want to make it easy for you to love it, too. That's amazing, rare, and refreshing. My friends have heard me say this a lot, so I may as well share it with all of you - I like to spend my time with people who are curious and kind. Those are the people I want as friends. And when you start with those two qualities, other virtues are a bonus on top of that. Shriti and the family of friends she has built embody this. Her curiosity and willingness to innovate make this the most exciting and compelling winery I have encountered in Missouri (and many other states). The only limitations are what the soil can grow in this part of the world, and even then she is making remarkable breakthroughs with local grapes. For example, Shriti was the first Missouri winemaker to produce an orange wine, and it's great. Her piquette is fascinating and fun, I'd never seen one anywhere else. Fence Stile produces wines for any palate, including those of us who prefer drier wines. Which is all too rare in Missouri. They also have started innovating in the rum and brandy space, it's a new program for them and I'm very excited to see where they go with it. And by see I mean taste. Finally, a word on value. How many times have you been to a small Midwestern or southern winery, find one wine that you can sort of work with, only to discover it's $35 or more per bottle? I'm extremely sympathetic to the pressures on small producers, but there are many places it doesn't feel justified. And compared to what you can get from basically anywhere else in the world at that cost, that's a hard price point to feel good about. $35 can get you a world class Spanish Tempranillo... or variations on "Sad Norton." Fence Stile gets this. They have more accessible prices than many other places, which is funny because the wine here is way better. They've struck a nice balance of value and sustainability. I love Missouri. I want it to shine. This place and this team are innovating their way to breakthroughs that do just that. Now I just need to figure out how to concisely explain what a Fence Stile is to my friends.

We were enjoying a girls day and so glad we ran across this venue. They went above and beyond forIs to make our experience so unique. They created a VIP experience taking our group photos, setting up games and the fire pit for us. Thank you for a fantastic day. Your venue was full of charm!

We have visited many wineries over the years. Shiriti is the most wonderful vintner we have ever met. She is warm and friendly and knows her stuff about wine. Thank you Shiriti for the excellent wine and a fun tasting.

Great place to relax and enjoy a day of live music, wine and snacks. It would be great if more food options for lunch or dinner were available, but the cheese and ritz crackers were ok for our visit. It was nice being able to take my pup as well. They offer tours and tastings. We did the red wine tasting at this visit. Will be back!

Went with my husband on their wine tasting cave tour and it was amazing! The owner is very knowledgeable, funny, and warm hearted. We had a small group so it felt very VIP and we tried a variety of wines. So delicious and we purchased 3 bottles. Will definitely order online in the future!!

Today was such a treat. We are visiting Excelsior Springs for my husband’s birthday. We purchased tickets to tour the wine cave and do a wine tasting. It was so much fun and so educational. The owner and wine maker personally led us through the whole process from growing to the wine making. It was so interesting to hear her thoughts on what she had in mind for each wine created. Her passion for the process is so inspiring. I will never look at a glass of wine the same. If you have a chance to visit this gem you will enjoy it!

Had a wonderful time here with my daughter on a yoga/wine tasting tour organized through the Elms hotel. Beautiful property, well-maintained and cared for. Yoga was perfect outside by the vines. We came in to the tasting room for a light lunch paired with tastings, prepared by Shriti, the owner. Delicious, most of the veggies were grown on the property. Shriti treated us to a fantastic tour of the winery while pouring tastings as we went. The production room was impressive and immaculately clean. She explained the wine making process in detail. It is evident that she has a passion for wine making! We also toured the cave, the beautiful candlelit tasting room and the barrel room. Highly recommend!
