We had a reservation across the street. We were made to wait 30 minutes beyond our reservation time and then sat in a back room all seated at separate spaces. The hostess had been extremely negative during this wait time. Taste’s big red sign caught our eye. In a quick phone call, we learned we were able to head right over. Not a minute wait time and were met at the door with a warm welcome. And the service we received was consistent throughout our time. Warm, welcoming, almost family like. And now, the food: exceptional. Catfish and fried wings were impeccable. Potatoes and eggs were the perfect accompaniment. But the cheese grits. I can tell you, they were not made with water and were flavorful. Cheesy, the grits were more polenta like. Super smooth and just unreal flavor. I can go on and on. But I invite you to try them out for yourself. And the prices make sense!! Not this overpriced and underwhelming stuff I keep seeing in StL. I now have a black owned establishment I can go to over and over again. Because the food is great, the service matches, and the atmosphere is perfect! Than you, chef and owner, for this experience.

Re Re was so helpful and did amazing! Our party took over the entire place which is a lot of pressure on just a few servers. They maintained great spirit and customer service. Food was PHENOMENAL as well. Thank you for hosting us. Try the Catfish & Grits w/ Seafood Gravy. Yummmm.

I keep seeing this place on social media and people in the comments saying that they don’t be open. You guys would comment and say your open Saturdays 2-10 but that is a lie . 3:45pm 1-10-26 (Saturday) , people are outside your establishment and it is indeed empty and closed . Please update your hours for people who do want to support.
Edit 1/17/26: not many follow your “Facebook”. Updating google or posting a sign on your door would be a great help for others . Also I wish you well also 😊

I had my birthday brunch at taste on 01/04. There was some miscommunication and hiccups when arriving with my party, but the staff quickly accommodated me and went above and beyond to make it right. I order the fried chicken and French toast biscuits and my food was amazing!! My family also enjoyed their dishes. The food, the staff, and the atmosphere were all great and I can’t wait to return.

Our book club had a wonderful evening at Taste! From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious—beautifully prepared and served promptly. Chef Jason clearly knows his craft!
We also enjoyed a great conversation with co-owner Dean, who was warm, down-to-earth, and entertaining. Taste truly delivered on making a lasting impression, and we can confidently say we’ll be back soon.

Man I got lamb chops with shrimp, oh wait from the beginning I pulled up in the bk and the man ask if I could enter through there. The nice looking gentleman said yes!! The ladies in front house was so nice and attentive. Food was soooooo good ! Yall the best lamb chops and shrimp in stl. Only thing I was kinda mad about was the homemade mashed potatoes I ate them so fast because they was so good I felt like I should’ve ordered dbl 🤣🤣🤣

I went this evening and tried their birria quesadilla. I ordered at the counter and shortly after my food was brought to my table. I was pleasantly surprised how much meat was in these quesadillas. This entree was about $22 and I feel like I got my money’s worth. The consume was thick and flavorful with lots of green onions.
I am kicking myself for not ordering the gooey butter cake cheesecake by the register it looked so good.
Overall I had a great experience. The service was great and the staff was very attentive. My food came out hot and fresh. Not to mention the interior of this place is appeasing to my eyes, which is always nice.
This was a nice chill vibe. This place can fill up quick because seating is limited. I got there early so me my friend was able to sit down and eat inside. I got the catfish and grits with a seafood sauce OMG it was so good. I will be back try some more things.

I visited expecting the full menu, only to learn that they only serve tacos on Tuesdays. While I appreciate the Taco Tuesday concept, the tacos were overpriced and lacked flavor. I paid $26 for three tacos and a cup of water. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t return.
