The chairs are comfortable, the views are beautiful, it was quiet, and the service was friendly and efficient. When a restaurant has this much going for it, the food doesn't even have to be all that spectacular. We will be back! The menu was mostly bar food and sandwiches, with a few steak and dinner entrees thrown in for good measure. The pretzel appetizer was quite good-even our kids ate them! Our steaks were over cooked, but they weren't horrible. The onion rings were tasty. I don't enjoy skin-on mashed potatoes as a rule, but theirs were better than most. The lemon drop martini was cold and delicious, and our children loved the giant desserts! Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience.
Group of six. We made a reservation prior to arriving at Lodge of Four Seasons, and the front desk clerk, not knowing we already made a reservation), encouraged us to do so because the restaurant will be busy/packed. Arrived for reservation on time, but looked like we really didn't need a reservation as the restaurant had a number of empty tables for a 7pm on a Friday night. Got seated and waiter came and took our drink order fairly quick. Great. But it took 15 minutes for the first drinks to arrive and they came in waves, two at a time. Ordered some apps (seafood ravioli and onion rings). Pretty good. Waiter took dinner order and additional drinks, and I will say, he was a bit aloof, but he had his stuff in order since we were doing six separate checks. However, the food for dinner was a mixed bag. One had pizza, and it was not good; one had the Cajun beef pasta, which decent; another had the French dip, who said it was outstanding; three of us had the 12 oz. NY strip. All three that had this said it was disappointing -- lacking flavor (basically tasted of zero seasoning) and none appeared to be good cuts of beef as they all had a fat line (almost-vein like), running down the steak, definitely a bit chewy and gristly; definitely not the regular marbling of a steak. And the fat on the sides of the steak didn't appear to have been cooked off much.
I have had bettwr food at applebeea. Was your chef gone? I hope so, otherwise you guys are really fallimg short. No ome enjoyed thier meal.
The wait time for our food was close to two hours and then one person didn't get their meal when the rest were served and had to wait. One person received a sirloin instead of a filet and when they questioned the meal they were told it was a filet which it was clearly not. The bar was out of several items including sweet vermouth, at least one bourbon and a Merlot. The server was very kind and did her best, the bartender was also lovely but the kitchen clearly struggled and the manager was not pleasant.
Tried to have dinner there last night but they said no cocktails were available which was strange because they had a full bar plus the pool bar right outside at the hotel. Disappointed
Mother's day buffet. Waited had to be reminded we ordered drinks and water. Buffet was set up nice but the food was just mediocre, desert table looked nice but again nothing special. It was nice to have someplace for mother's day, but next year we will eat somewhere else. $160.00 for the meal, drinks and tip. Price would have been fine if the food had been better.
We spent Easter brunch with HK's at the Lake. This was the second year we had come for their buffet event. For a buffet it is rather pricey, we were pleased with the food and service last year and it made us want to come back again this year. However, this year was not the same. The prime rib was not that great to be honest, my mother asked for a medium rare slice and the slicer said he didn't really have that. Who doesn't have that? They should. The food was good though, it usually is. it was the service that was really lacking, so many young girls that didn't really do anything, our cups were empty, they hardly came back and checked on us, and just hung out at the hostess stand for the most part. I would say after everything, idk if it was worth the huge price bill for shotty service and well done prime rib. Those cream cheese strawberry blitz - those were fire!
Service was fair, didn't seem prepared for Valentines Day. Food was mediocre at best for the price. We won't return
Our server was very fluid guiding us throughout the evening. We arrived at 7, party of 6,limited NYE menu, took us until 10 to recieve and get through our meals. My meal came out out overcooked and cold. Manager was too busy to speak with me. Very last time I will be back there. The food was disappointing and kind staff is the only reason they received any stars.
After having such a nice experience for our Thanksgiving dinner, my wife and I decided to book for a Christmas dinner. I made the appt for 11am on Dec 25. When we arrived there were only 4 other tables with guests and to our disappointment, we decided to go ahead and order from the breakfast menu but were told breakfast was closed @ 11am. We were left to only order from the lunch menu. We both had a cheeseburger was very disappointing for the occasion. The disappointment was when making the reservation it was not clear that we had to order a sandwich for Christmas. We were told Christmas dinner could only be ordered fri the menu after 4pm. Very, very disappointing. We may not return.

We had the worst dinner imaginable on Christmas Eve--and horrible service. They were short on help so our wait to be waited on was longer than it should have been. But the food? My husband had prime rib which was over an inch thick and was mostly fat thrown on top of large piles of potatoes au gratin. He couldn't eat it because there was no actual meat, and he returned it. Our waitress never returned after he complained about the cut of meat (fat). The manager came by, and he was not charged for his meal. There was a screaming little girl running around. The ambience was awful, our waitress was awful (she never came to check on our food after another waiter served us), and the food and presentation were the worst. We had gone there over Christmas several years ago, and we had a wonderful experience. This was anything but. The whole thing left a bad taste in our mouths. We noticed that even the front desk was not very caring as we had screaming kids running up and down the halls, slamming doors, loud talking. Our two nights' stay was horrible. We will never come back.
When we first walked into the lodge I asked if there was an elevator to get to the restaurant which was down some steps and I knew would be difficult since I have a sprained knee. The Man at the desk pointed us down a corridor. I thought it was odd that access to the restaurant would be that far out of the way but I hobble down there and we did not find an elevator. We came back down the corridor and I had to go down the steps to get to the restaurant. All of this made us quite late for my reservation, but the hostess was very kind and seated us. I asked her about the elevator and she said that it was through an inconspicuous doorway by the restaurant which turned out to be a service elevator. How were we supposed to know we were looking for a service elevator? And how strange is it that a service elevator was the only way for someone with a handicap to access the restaurant, especially at a place where they have a reputation for being a high end establishment. We sat for quite some time without even getting water. Finally the hostess came up to us and apologized and explained that they were short staffed because it was a holiday. She is actually the one who eventually came back and took our order before she had to rush off to answer the ringing phone and help the people who are standing in line waiting to be seated. We received our food after a while and the short ribs were good But the portion size could have been a bit bigger for the price. And my mashed potatoes were cold. Discussion on the way out revealed we were all in agreement that we wished we had made reservations someplace else instead. While it could have been way worse, it also could have been much better. I do commend the staff who was on hand for doing everything they could two help customers while working with a skeleton crew. Questionable access, overpriced & mediocre fare in a dated atmosphere.
Thank god that I had a copy of my reservation. The restuarant did not have our reservation and said that it is because of using open table that they did not recieve the resevation. they did find us a table though
The restaurant is lovey and the staff were wonderful. The food was not great but there were some standout items. The potstickers appetizer was delicious as was the s'mores dessert skillet. The grouper entree was tough and creme brûlée was all brûlée and very little creme. The live music was nice too. May come back for appetizers, drinks and that s'mores dessert to enjoy the atmosphere but skip the pricey entrees for the quality.
HK'S WAS A FANTASTIC FIND ON SUCH SHORT NOTICE. It was easy to book a reservation online. The food was delicious and ? different. We had a great time celebrating my Birthday. The Ginger Salmon was very tasty. The portions were more than enough and we really enjoyed the live music.
