The best of the best of everything here. It is an event to have dinner here. Complete with view of the lake and the beautiful sunset. The food is absolutely amazing. The service is always perfect. Ending width a visit with Joseph. A life long family tradition for me and my family and a very special place for my husband and me.

Absolutely the best steak AND lobster AND escargot that I've ever had! And considering it was fried lobster (which I have never had before this evening).... whoa! Amazing! The congac was smooth and delish! The service was fantastic (Amy)! Thank you for the beautiful parting gift! So fortunate to have made it to this beautiful establishment before they closed the doors this evening forever. And to Joseph and his family, Thank you for your time and dedication to your life of successes that have brought many memories to so many! May you and your family be blessed!

Unfortunately, one of our favorite restaurants is permanently closing on Oct. 26, 2019. Sad to see this Lake icon go. Such a lovely view and wonderful people.

Classic style and classics feel. So sad this is my first experience and due to the restaurant closing this will be the last. I would buy this out and make this the best place if I could.

Joe and his staff are top notch and I am really sad that it is time for Joe to retire and enjoy life without having to continue to be one of the best restaurants at the lake. As they say, “All good things must come to an end” and the end is very near. You will live on in wonderful memories!

If you have never been to the Blue Herron at the Lake of the Ozarks you only gave a few weeks left. After more than 30 years Joe is closing this culinary institution. The marrow bones are as large as three orders in any other restaurant. The lobster bisque and the onion soup are the standard by which all others are judged. The star here is the lobster served three ways: poached in Champaign; broiled and; the quintessential deep fried.

Went there July 24 and the place was a ghost town. We were there for a birthday dinner with family after not having been there for many years. The owner Joseph Boer accosted us out of the blue with some crazy story and embarrassed all of us and made the few patrons and the staff miserable. We had not even touched our drinks and walked out. We went to Baxter's across the street and were treated warmly and had excellent food. We had heard the owner here had lost it but we saw it first hand. Whatever this was in the past is over. Baxter's is great. Go there

A restaurant with a soul. Everything -food, presentation, atmosphere -was perfect. Great selection of rare and unique wines.

View and waitress great! Food awful! I eat everything and like everything. Salad, well side by side, McDonald's side salad would win. Ice berg lettuce, a very few tomatoes

Everyone should plan on experiencing The Blue Heron Restaurant. We were there last night, and as always it was exceptional . The food, the service and the setting can't be explained, you have to experience it. Do yourself a favor and pick a special evening to go there, you'll be glad you did. Get the lobster bisque, it's incredible.
