This place is absolutely banging. My family and I came here twice in one day and had so many options to pick from. Philly cheesesteak? Amazing. Beef ravioli? beautiful. Crab Rangoon? Fantastic. Hotdog? Brilliant. Sweet and sour? Bangin. Chicken sandwich? Everything ive dreamed of. There was more, so much more that we got and everything was amazing. Shout out to the chefs and the beautiful lady at the register. You are all legendary. Keep up the fantastical work.

The staff are very friendly and made us feel welcome. My son is super picky but said the burger and waffle fries were the best he has had. My husband got the general tso chicken and said it was very different then any Chinese food he has ever had but he liked it. I ordered a personal pan pizza and I didn't like it but my niece did. We also shared garlic cheese curds and they were yummy. However, the portion sizes were good and the service is so great, I will definitely be back but will order a burger next time.

We stopped by for lunch after visiting Dogwood Canyon and were so glad we did! For one, the staff working were incredibly kind and helpful! If you’ve ever thought, “I don’t know what I’m hungry for” then look no further because they have it all! We ordered the garlic cheese curds, a bacon cheeseburger, general’s chicken and fried rice, an iced coffee and some amazing homemade chocolate chip cookies! They also had a variety of pizza options. Seriously, if you’re in the area then do yourself a favor and stop here for a bite of whatever you can think of!

I ordered CRAB Rangoon and a cheeseburger with fries. Took one bite out of the Rangoons and quickly discovered they only had cream cheese when our burgers got there I handed them back and stated my concern and the lady said cream cheese was all they put in them and I said well that's not what was advertised. Did I get a refund? No. An offer for something else? No. Burgers were overcooked. The fries were the only thing that was good.

Good food and friendly service. Spacious dining room that could accommodate our larger group. We stayed way after their closing time (without realizing it) and we never felt the least bit like they were trying to push us out. The owner came by the table more than once (we were there a long time) and made sure that everything was going well. We will definitely go back if we are in the area.

I really wanted to like this place, but it was a huge let down. Allow me to explain...

We first learned about White Lightning a couple years ago while driving to Dogwood Canyon. It was initially kind of a joke that we would go eat there because the sign states that they serve burgers, pizza, and chinese food. A strange combination for sure. For two years we joked about how we were going to eat there, then I looked it up and the reviews were actually really good. What was initially a joke turned into legitimate interest.

Fast forward to July 2025 - We just happened to be staying at Chalets on Tablerock Lake, which took us past White Lightning anytime we went anywhere. On our last day, we finally had a chance to stop in. It was Sunday and about 30 minutes before closing, so we decided to order take out.

First impression - This place is about as 'no frills' as it gets, but I don't care about that. We were greeted by several very friendly workers. One young gentleman, who I assume was also a cook, came out and handed us menus and explained the specials. After looking over the menu for several minutes, we were ready to order. The woman who took our order was also very friendly. We really felt very comfortable there, like we were frequent customers. Everyone was very inviting and the atmosphere was relaxing, I loved it.

My daughter and I decided to share a pizza and general tso's chicken. I mean, how can you go there and not get the chinese food? My wife ordered a chicken sandwich with all the fixins. We also ordered fountain drinks.

This is where everything starts to fall apart. We waited for our order for at least 30 minutes, probably closer to 45. Ok, no big deal since it's relaxing in there and I could keep refilling my cup. Staying positive. We finally get our food and head back to the resort.

We sit down and the first thing we opened was the general tso's chicken. It looked fine except that the portion size was what I'd expect for a toddler. If you're familiar with Panda Express, it's probably 1/3 of the amount of food for the price ($12). My daughter took one bite and that was enough for her. I'm less picky, so I finished it. It tasted ok, but not something I would order again even if the portion size was adequate. I would probably eat it if it was free.

My daughter had already moved onto the pizza at this point. The story is pretty much the same here regarding size, but the taste was actually really good. Everyone who tried it agreed. Unfortunately, it was the size of a thin crust frozen Jacks pizza from walmart that I can typically get for less than $3. For reference, the white lightning pizza was $17. The large deep dish pizza we got the day before from Mr G's was the same price.

The last item we ordered was the crispy chicken sandwich for my wife. This sandwich was actually a nice good size. Unfortunately, it was literally just a piece of chicken on a plain bun. There was no sauce of any kind and she didn't receive the lettuce, tomato, onion, or pickles that it was supposed to come with. Thankfully we had a small amount of BBQ sauce in the fridge. The sandwich was seasoned well and was actually still decent without the toppings (albeit very dry). This is a good time to point out that everything is a la carte, so I had to order a side of fries for her. The portion size of the fires was small, of course. For the sandwich and fries the cost was $12.

My total bill was just under $50 for three people. For what we received, it should have been half that. I should have listened to the negative reviews.

For the record, I'm not trying to hurt this business in any way by leaving this review. This review was hard to write because everyone was so friendly, but I'm trying to help potential customers make informed decisions.

Great food!!! We got there about 215pm and the order counter had a patron who camped out telling a story to the cashier who apologized about our wait. Great location!

We loved it here so much we came back twice in 24 hours! My son is the pickiest eater, never eats anything out at restaurants and ate their personal pizza and a grilled cheese! Can’t praise them enough! Highly recommend if you’re in the area, also worth the trip though!
