From the moment I arrived, the welcoming atmosphere made the experience enjoyable and stress-free. The restaurant is bright and clean, with a casual yet comfortable setting that immediately puts you at ease. Whether you’re stopping by during a road trip or visiting as a local, it feels like the kind of place where good food and good vibes come together naturally.

The highlight of my visit was definitely the chicken. Skippy’s chicken is exceptional—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. The seasoning is balanced and flavorful, offering just the right amount of spice and herbs without overwhelming the natural taste of the meat. Each bite was delicious, and it was clear that the kitchen takes real care in preparation and consistency.

One of the things I appreciated most was the quick service. Despite the popularity of the restaurant, I didn’t have to wait long at all for my order. The staff was efficient and friendly, moving quickly while still taking the time to be polite and attentive. It’s rare to find a place that combines speed with quality, but Skippy’s manages both effortlessly.

Everything about the meal—from the warm welcome to the perfectly cooked chicken—left a lasting impression. Skippy's Route 66 Restaurant delivers exactly what you hope for in a fast-food stop: delicious, well-seasoned food served fast and fresh. I would happily return anytime and highly recommend it to anyone traveling along Route 66 or simply looking for a satisfying, no-fuss meal”

“We came here for our first year wedding anniversary and it was amazing! We happened to be there on a weekend of a car show so the place was really busy. The food arrived at a good time and the waiter (Lottie I think) and waitress were so attentive and kind! The food is absolutely delicious and filling, perfect for any foodie.”

“On our way to Steelville MO we stopped for lunch at the Cuba Bakery and Deli. This was a cute little spot to stop and have lunch. There was only one person working today and he was on fire capturing everyone’s orders, making the food and running the register. It took about 15 mins to get a sandwich but it was worth it bedside there were not too many spots around that were open.

We all ordered a sandwich with a dill pickle and waters. We also picked up some banana bread that was In the store. You are able to purchase bread, ice cream and other baked goods in the store that are ready to go.

The food was good and the hospitality of that ow guy was on point. We normally come out to Steelville once per year and we will make sure we come back through.

They also served coffee and cold drinks. Plenty of parking out front and a cool country vibe.”

“Was coming to see family in Salem mo.decide to stop here and eat on our way home.The worst bbq I ever ate ordered pork steak was so tough could not eat no flavor.Was not smoked didn't look like pork steaks I can smoke better bbq at home.I don't know how they say they are so good.Never will stop there again never smelled smoker on outside.Nasty.....don't waste your time stopping there.Even bbq sauces were nasty tasting”
