9 Best Japanese Restaurants near Lees Summit

“After Gojo's on the Plaza closed in 2020, I thought the Hibachi experience was lost for those of us in the SE parts of KC. And while I had seen Siki from the outside many times, it's exterior, location, and parking lot kind of prevented me from giving them a shot. But never judge a book by its cover, right? It was the spouse's birthday desire for Hibachi, so I made the reservation. Making a reservation was the best idea - otherwise you might not get in on a Friday or Saturday night. Our reservation was set for 6pm, and they seated us mostly on time, but then didn't take our drink or food order for several minutes. Is was a Saturday Night and it was packed, so I can overlook this part, but the timing comes back into play at the end. Once the show started, it was pretty darn good. Fresh food started being cooked on the Hibachi grill, knife and spatula skills were well honed. Food was prepared well. It was very pleasant. But because we got started late, the time to sit around, enjoy the food, and make conversation with those at the grill was truncated so they could seat the 7pm guests. Be aware, if you want Sushi, ask for the separate sushi menu. Also be prepared to drop $100-200. But, for the show and food quality, I would definitely go again.“

“Excellent sushi! This was my first visit, but I've heard good things about this place. I had a 3-roll lunch special for $14 or $15, very economical. I also ordered 2 special rolls. The Yellowtail was good and the Spicy Tuna was some of the best I've had! The Tootsie had imi crab and shrimp w crunch, and was duper tasty! The Rainbow Roll was spectacular! Thick cuts of high-quality fish on a delicious crab salad roll. I think I will have 2 next time! The Volcano was amazing! If you like a variety of hot seafood dumped on a cold California Roll, you will enjoy this! The onion soup was good. I would normally prefer miso, but it was fun for a change. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It was a pleasant, quiet setting with Japanese / Asian decorations. The menu also incuded Thai food, which I did not try. I will have to have some when I return. Hopefully it's as good as the sushi! The quality of everything was higher than average, and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend Mint Sushi! I can't wait to come back!“

“My absolute FAVORITE!!! Our friend brought us here for the first time a few months ago and we were both hooked. The atmosphere is great. Love the decor and candles they have at the front desk. The staff are very kind, hard working and fast. The food is phenomenal, I always order the sweet potato rolls, fillet mignon habachi, with fried rice and hot strawberry puree sake. We always leave full, content and satisfied. This is our go to sushi place.You will definitely be back very soon. Thank you for such wonderful service and fantastic food.“
