If your feeling nostalgic for the "original" Cupcake A La Mode do not come here! When I initially came across this location I thought it was closed, peering through the window it appeared dark and noone was in sight so I walked on. Still I craved that delicious cupcake, I checked the hours came back and headed inside, it was dark and it didn't look much like the other CALM stores, it definitely wasn't inviting. I looked at the cupcakes and a young girl came out to take my order. I ordered a Salty Carmella and a Mocha Latte, they were $5.50 a piece, a bit pricey but well worth it ...I thought. Those were nothing like the OG CALM, they felt as if they were a few days old, a bit stiff and the frosting was excessive. It looks like a new owner took over in 2017 boasting how they were making CALM better. Don't kid yourself, there was nothing wrong with the OG CALM model. I want to love it but it's just not the same

Cupcakes we're doughy and very heavy. Not a cake consistency at all. Icing had very little flavor and was hard. Way overpriced for the product I got. If I could get a refund, I would. Bought 4 cupcakes that ended up in trash. Don't waste your money. I don't normally give bad reviews, but this was so bad family told me to do so. It was bad for them also.

The cupcakes were undercooked and icing was bitter on both of our cupcakes. The girl at the register didn’t greet us , didn’t smile , and acted like she didn’t want to be there. We wanted a refund for our cupcakes because who would want more of the same? $11 for cupcakes that were nasty, plainly decorated, and the customer service experience is subpar, save your money and go to Hy-Vee or Walmart.

Can’t reply to your comment, but she wouldn’t have gotten screamed at if you didn’t hide behind your employees. Was screaming at her right? No, and I do regret that and will take accountability. However, train your employees on proper conflict resolution and this would’ve been avoided. For example, instead of telling someone what your not going to do, be apologetic about the situation and because you don’t offer refunds, maybe say hey the next time you come back is a 5-10% discount we apologize for your experience that’s not the product that we want to put out. Who would want a replacement if the cupcakes were underbaked and the icing was bitter due to excessive artificial flavoring ? If two cupcakes tastes that way, that means it’s not an isolated issue. Help your employees by posting your return policy so customers know upfront what to expect. This would avoid the situation all together and customers can make an informed decision before purchasing . I won’t make excuses for screaming at her because that shouldn’t have happened and that was never my intent. I was frustrated with how it all played out amd how she told me what she wasn’t going to do when I asked to speak with a manager or whoever could speak with us about the situation. She outright refused and continue to tell me what she wasn’t going to do and that’s when things escalated( which again I take accountability for my actions). But the facts remain the same…. those cupcakes were under cooked and your buttercream tasted artificial and bitter ( a result of excessive amounts of artificial almond flavoring). Your employees are a reflection of who you are as a leader. Your response shows your lack of empathy, conflict resolution, and leadership skills. So, if you exhibit those traits, so will your employees because they don’t know any different. Instead of pointing fingers, take accountable for the underdone and bitter frosting. Since we were still in the area, that’s why we returned to your establishment (otherwise they would’ve been trashed). Maybe it was a bad frosting and baking day and that’s ok, but what’s not ok is you trying to gaslight a customer. Word of mouth is how you get business, so be cautious in the way you respond to feedback.

Good flavors/ -but wayyyyyy overpriced. $30 for 6 cupcakes... is wild. I should have went to Hyvee or Price Chopper & got a decent cake for 1/2 that.??‍♀️

Bought a coconut cake for a small 80th birthday (not all bakeries do coconut), and it was delicious! I was planning this dinner from out of town, and the folks at Cupcake A La Mode were so kind and helpful and communicative!

Cupcakes were dry as could be! No filling! Buttercream was ok...really just overpriced 50 cent Cupcakes for $5 something a piece. Never again!!!

Cupcakes were good. The worker I encounter this evening was rude. She was certain that I had not prepaid for my order and had to verify and was just not pleasant. The shop was very stale and just lacked a welcoming environment. Will not come back.

We ordered a 6 inch cake for a 25th anniversary. This was a huge mistake. The icing was so sweet and thick between the layers of cake that we were not able to eat it. The cake was dry and the cake to icing ratio was way off. Icing was way too thick between the layers and then only to pick off the icing to find dry cake. I spoke with Jennifer the owner who blamed the staff and refused to give us a refund. I said I could either bring the rest of the cake back or send a pic so they could see we truly didn't eat it, but she refused. She said they could only give us an in-store credit and NO REFUNDS. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! We paid over $50 and couldn't eat the cake. ****This part is in response to the comment from the Owner Jennifer directly below mine. I picked up our cake on Fri Feb 23rd and called Sat Feb 24th and spoke with Lana regarding our concerns. She said she would contact the owner because there is no mgr. I never received a response, so I called again on Mon Feb 26th. I never threatened you or used bad language I only wanted a refund for a bad product. I only said I was going to leave a review after she refused the give me a refund. I said the caked looked okay but the problem was the icing and the actual cake which you wouldn't know until you eat it. This company only cares about the $$ they make and DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT OR CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

I will not return to this location! I take food handling very seriously! Not only is the display not safe (food left out with no covering), but the female who served me had no gloves on. I'm making sure to leave this review twice, under this profile, as well as my husband's profile. It's just a matter of time before someone gets sick here! Cupcake a La Mode, you might not be in business very long if you don't educate your workers on how to properly handle food safely with no risks of illnesses.

If you've decided that food service is going to be your career, then I'd suggest following the practical protocol of food sanitization and safety. Upon arrival at this location, I noticed the female who grabbed the 5 cupcakes I selected, was wearing NO gloves! I DO NOT know where your hands have been or if you washed them. The server didn't look the cleanest nor friendlest. It's definitely the last time I come here and WOULD NOT recommend this place either.

I pre ordered the sweetheart box at $22.99Got the box home it was not what was advertised.4 cupcakes 2 did not have strawberries on them, 2 were duplicates. I ordered 4 different cupcakes.I sent owner email , no reply.Sent a FB message no reply.Bad customer service, go elsewhere.
