This place has it all. Beautiful greens fantastic neighborhood, and a great dining room. Lakewood is a fantastic community, plus the oaks and the Argyle make it that much better.

Lakewood CC is one of the few courses around town I haven't had the pleasure of dunking a ball in a lake or losing a ball in the woods...this week...mission accomplished on both fronts... For the lucky ones, Lakewood CC offers a wonderfully manicured layout, with several twists and turns golfers love. The layout was quite a bit more hilly than I was expecting, and shotmaking was at a premium, as almost every fairway is lined with with houses, roads, trees or water. As we found out, errant tee shots deliver roof thudding "bangs", my drives were all straight down the fairway...wink...wink...as the surrounding houses are big and beautiful...an interesting side note, several houses have fortified enclosures providing some degree of protection, yet very entertaining on the level of ingenuity, fashioned to erect them. The greens are decent sized, but roll like glass, which adds a level of skill our 4-some was missing. Bunkers are plentiful, and well maintained. The highlight of my round occurred on holes 5 and 6, both pars 3's. 100 yds over water, then 130 yds onto a peninsula. Very creative holes tucked between houses and water... I was lucky enough to be invited to a tournament and play this wonderful course, so if you ever get the chance, jump on it...
Went to the oaks for dinner last night with the family. I had the salmon with fruit salsa. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The salsa could've used a bit more flavor & kick. The baked potato was perfect as was the steamed broccoli. Portion was right on. My dinner was $14.95. It was a fair price. They also brought us breadsticks before the meal. Nice touch. The service was great. No waiting. We will definitely go back.
