PapaWalla is a fairly new Indian place in downtown Mexico, near other popular bars and restaurants. It's cozy inside with high ceilings and beautiful brick walls. The food is reasonably priced and the staff are amazing. I haven't tried everything on the menu yet but I will. So far everything has been great, except for the Samosas, which are exceptional. You can order 3 potato somosas for 5 bucks and they alone fill me up...but two orders (total 6) maybe for bigger folks. There is also an 8 for five dollar option. Their main delicious comes with beautiful Indian style rice and you get wonderful proportions. Mexico, Mo., is lucky to have this place to add to an already great variety of food for a town with such a small population. Highly recommended. My only negative is I wish they had a liquor license because this would be an awesome place to have a pint...or even a nice cup of joe.

Great food (especially the dal) and friendly service. It’s a mom and son pair running shop, and they seem really passionate.

Love the atmosphere, bright warm colors, comfy booths, and a very open and pleasant arrangement. The second floor is promising, hopefully it'll be open for dining soon, sitting up there would be awesome. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Spicy Chicken, garlic Naan, and Potato Samosas. It was all top notch, with wonderfully blended spices and an excellent chutney. The chef is obviously as passionate about the food as he is skilled. As a bonus: I left my phone at the restaurant. Not only did they pick it up when we called, they held it and stayed AFTER CLOSING to let me come back and grab it.Great service, great staff, great chef, great restaurant. Will DEFINITELY be adding this place to my regular rotation.

Great gluten free options. Delicious food. American option of pulled pork was good as well. Nice to have something different and good.

Parking: Parking on street and around the block is all free.

Dietary restrictions: All main dishes have been gluten free. American food options may not be. GF Naan bread option. Very accommodating and informative.

Driving through town on a road trip and decided to stop in. So glad we did. Wonderful food. Loved the Chicken Masala and Garlic Naan! Just the right spice level and full of flavor.Definitely different, but if you never tried a curry do yourself a favor and put down the burger and try this place out. Your taste buds will thank you.

Stopped in for biryani. Definitely not high on spice, but well made and good portions. The atta bread was fantastic, though, flaky and buttery. And the extra spicy egg wraps were superb. I got one as a why not, but enjoyed it the most of all my meal. Just make sure to ask for extra spicy! The owner obviously cares about what he does; the food should only become better as the restaurant matures. My request to him is that he offer a regular and extra spicy on all dishes, to satisfy both the midwestern palates and the more adventurous.

Everything we ordered was great. Had the butter chicken with cheese Naan, so good. Got the sampler (thalia I think it was) and it was phenomenal. Will be making a trip back.

Most of the menu at PapaWalla is as bland as baby food. SaagaWalla is nothing more than plain stewed spinach and unseasoned chicken. The spicy chicken is okay, but would be mildly disappointing even from one of the Indian restaurants in Columbia. This restaurant is what I expect would happen if Martians were beamed photos of Indian food and got none of the flavors correct. Owner uses the excuse of having to make the food extra plain for locals. No vegetarian options which for an Indian restaurant should be at least a third of the menu. I've seen claims of six years of research and focus groups thrown about. I suspect the food was only tested with friends & family who wouldn't want to hurt his feelings. I love Indian food with a passion and this is why I don't care for PapaWalla.
