Floor needs to be swept and the food portion was a bit small. I wasn't given the option for a drink until after my "meal" arrived.

We ordered one of the specials, country fried steak with different sides. Slight modifications really took the flavor up a notch, delicious! The decor was a nice break from fast food places. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely go again.

I'm going to preface this rather harsh review by saying that we intend to return to this little restaurant for breakfast the next time we're driving through. It deserves a second chance. :-) My sister heard about this cute out-of-the-way eatery from a friend (of a friend). We found it easily and were charmed by the vintage eclectic decor. We arrived at an odd late-afternoon time because we were en route to STL airport. The menu looked promising. We started with a shared order of fried pickles. They were not burned, but approaching burned. So salty we could barely nibble them. After we requested and received a serving of ranch dressing for dipping them the salt was tamed a bit. My sister ordered a veggie omelet and requested fruit instead of bread, easy on the cheese. She was told they had no fruit. They brought toast anyway. The omelet filling was mostly cheese, very little vegetable. My husband had a BLT. He reported that it was good, though oddly served on a hamburger bun. His accompanying French fries were simply burned to a crisp and totally inedible. I always ask the server for his/her recommendation. That usually leads me to some interesting new dishes I might not otherwise have tried. But this time it led to disaster. The House chicken salad was mostly a blend of cheese melted together with a bit of shredded chicken. I think it might have been delicious as a dip or an hors d'oeuvre. It was entirely too rich and made me a bit ill afterward though I could only eat less than half of it. That, however was on me -- I ordered the wrong thing. I only describe it to warn others. As with my husband's order, my fries were chocolate brown in color and impossible to eat. The two people manning the cafe were both very young ladies. Perhaps if an older person had been in charge they would have at least recognized that they were serving their customers food so overcooked it could not be eaten. In any case, we're going to try again.

This was the second time we have eaten there. The first time was really good. Today was not the greatest. I ordered a patty melt. The burger was absolutely tasteless and the meat was not cook all the way through. My husband ordered meatloaf and was brought the country fried steak instead. When we told the girl she did not take it back but instead just brought him a warm piece of meatloaf on a separate plate. Very disappointing meal today.

We drove here on Saturday and so glad we did. The young lady that waited on us was very attentive and the food was really good. I had the Barbecue sandwich and sweet potato fries, my husband had the Dagwood and scoop fries we both enjoyed our meals. Very interesting decorations in an old business on the corner of town. The music playing was good enough that people were singing along. I am looking forward to eating there again. They do close at 2 on Saturday and Sunday so get there in time to enjoy your meal. The desserts looked fabulous but we were too full to order one. Next time!
