Absolute diamond in the rough here. Outside is unassuming but they are serving fire. Probably one of the freshest, most tasty bbq sandwiches I've ever had (and I've had quite a few Z-mans)

This food blew my mind. I did not expect Kc ranked BBQ from a placed attached to a gas station. Don't let that fool you though the venue has a western yet modern vibe which could double as a sports bar and family restaurant. My new favorite BBQ spot when in this area.

phenomenal food and service
I recently discovered Ate1Six BBQ through the KC Discover Facebook page after seeing they were offering free meals for kids during the food stamp hold situation. Any business willing to step up for families like that instantly earns my support - so my wife and I decided to check them out. And man… we’re glad we did.
From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point. The tinted windows, cowboy décor, and low lighting set this classy-but-cozy BBQ atmosphere that hits you right away.
We ordered the KC Wild Plate so we could try a little bit of everything - half slab ribs, fries , 2 meats: we chose brisket, chicken, - and added sides of onion rings, cowboy beans, and their cheese dipping sauce. The platter is huge, easily enough to eat and still take home.
I’ll be honest… when the food came out and I saw their signature sauce, I was skeptical. But while I was serving my wife’s plate, I licked the sauce off my fingers and immediately got hit with a wave of flavor and smokiness that revived me twice. 😂 The sauce is THAT good.
Once I dug into my plate, it was over.
• Ribs? Bomb.
• Brisket? On point.
• Chicken? Juicy, not dry.
• Fries? Solid.
Overall: A1 experience.
Now for honesty:
My wife loved their cowboy beans and said they were superior to other Kansas City BBQ spots. I’m used to sweeter BBQ beans, so they caught me off-guard. Not bad at all — just different. We both agreed the cheese dip wasn’t our favorite, but that’s mostly because we’re used to white queso. None of that took away from the star of the show: the MEAT.
This Black family-owned business was amazing, and it’s officially being added to our restaurant roulette for future date nights. I even told the owners myself—I’d put them up against some of the biggest names in KC BBQ, like SLAPS in kck And I mean that.
Still plenty more on the menu to try, but so far?
Solid 9.6/10.
If you haven’t checked them out yet… do it.

Came for lunch today. Service was super-friendly; love the atmosphere/vibe - not quite hole-the-wall, but definitely not sterile/corporate. It's obviously a family-run place. The food: I had brisket )recommended by the very helpful young lady at the counter) and ribs with a side of slaw. Slaw was fantastic; perfect balance of tang, mayo, sweetness. Now I'm a bit of a BBQ purist. The meat and smoke should take center stage. The brisket and ribs were perfectly smoked and tender. BUT, and this is just my preference, there was just too much sauce on the meat. And the sauce is unique. I'd call it Thousand Island Dressing meets BBQ. It's not bad by any means, but it was a little much since it came pre-loaded on otherwise delicious meat. Final conclusions: Would I go again - absolutely! Would I recommend it to you or my friends - Most Definitely! Is it my favorite BBQ in KC . . .that's a REALLY high bar!

The owner is the real deal! Amazing guy! I just saw on the news that they have been giving out free meals during the shutdown. Doesn’t surprise me at all! The owner is the kindest guy. I met him last month when I was walking on a trail with my baby. There was a creepy man on the trail ahead so I hustled over to another guy in the park- who turned out to be the owner of this restaurant. He insisted on keeping watch for me to make sure my baby & I were safe. It meant the world to me and I won’t forget the kindness you showed me! We don’t live in Raymore but I’ll be making the trip back soon to support your business. Thanks for all you do for the community! KC is lucky to have you.

The people are super friendly and kind! Now for the important part, the food… HOLY 💩!!! Their brisket is BY FAR the BEST I have ever had, easily beating out Gates and Jack Stack! The chicken is moist and delicious, the ribs… finger licking good! My kids got their burgers and when I tell you that you don’t need anything on it, I mean it! The flavors are on point! Their sauce… OUT OF THIS WORLD! My son licked his plate clean because he didn’t want any of it going to waste. If you have not gone to try them yet, what are you waiting for!?
This is a casual BBQ place. Yummy and I like the sauce. The smoked wings and BBQ beans are fiya and the fried pickles are so good!! Good pricing and I love that it's black owned. This family is very nice and welcoming
