Crooked Tree Coffee House

We’re visiting from Australia and have had everything from truck stop coffee to in house boutique coffee roasters. Crooked Tree do some of the best coffee you’ll find anywhere here in the USA. Our 20,000 miles of road trips have taught us that some places are passionate about their coffee. Crooked Tree is top of the tree. Great coffee and friendly service. Thank you 🙏

Crooked Tree is one of my 2 favorite coffee shop haunts in the City of St Charles. It has great atmosphere and great coffee! It gets a bit chilly in the building when winter hits, but all good for an older building

Wonderful little place, nice atmosphere, ample seating for groups 1-4 people. The speciality coffee wasn’t overly sweet, the food was fresh, the menu has a lot of variety. Staff are very friendly, service was excellent. Will come back.

Coffee is always burnt, they don't know how to make espresso either.. Frappes are always melted, with large chunks of ice, just not blending them. Didn't use to be like this but for the last 3 or 4 months it seems like it's always completely new staff and the training must not be very thorough. I've tried to write these experiences off as one offs, give them grace with all the new employees. But I can no longer patronize this business. It's been consistently horrible, inedible, not even palatable, for at least 3 months.

I have travelled a lot and been to a ton of coffee shops, and the dreamsicle latte I had was one of the best I’ve had’. When I come back to visit family I will definitely stop back in.

We stopped at this cute little coffee shop on our most recent travels and it did not disappoint! The baristas and staff are attentive and the food is fast but very fresh. We had delicious coffee and you can’t beat a latte in a ceramic mug. I had the pistachio cream and it was delightful and well balanced. The food was warm and tasted good. We definitely appreciated the cute atmosphere and space for a little one to walk around while out of the car.

Parking: Parking was really easy to navigate and right to the side of the cafe!

Kid-friendliness: The space is nice and open and easy for kids to navigate. There is games available for older kid/ make sures your kids are attended to though a cute sign says that they will be given espresso and a free puppy if they are not! 😂

I've been ordering for a couple of years now since finding the menu in the office. It was great until it wasn't. It's become more of hit or miss. I usually get the aubracado sammy, the main character being the avocado! I'm not sure how many times I've gotten it WITHOUT avocado.... They try to do right and tell me to come up and get a new one, but when you're stuck in the office its kind of hard. Especially when you don't get breaks, or only have time at lunch. I would love to enjoy it by lunch but I'm not hungry by then because I already ate the one I got because I was hungry. The last two times, the avocados were not up to par. They were grey.....I can understand not wanting to waste! I get it, I worked in the food industry, avos are expensive, hit or miss on the ripeness, I get it! But when avos are the star of the sandwich, I would think that they would make an effort to make sure its worth spending 20 bucks for just a small coffee and sandwich. I treat myself with this place, so when its not up to par its just disappointing.
Great place, great food, great coffee, but sometimes I'm just like damn.... I'm still going to order again, I still recommend to people, just needed to get out the frustration that its been more misses than hits lately.

My boyfriend and I placed a pickup order here today for the first time and each got breakfast sandwiches and iced lattes. He got the toffee nut and I the pistachio cream. We both got chorizo on our breakfast sandwiches which was something most places don’t offer, and everything was really good! Can’t wait to come back and try more things. :)

Upon arriving, the parking is a bit terrible (there’s not a lot of spots) but I guess it’s the area. The place didn’t look very clean inside either. I ordered from an older guy (guessing the owner and/or manager) and he was very rude. I asked if there were any flavors of the lattes that weren’t as sweet (as I ask other places and they have no problem letting me know which ones they recommend since I don’t like my coffee overly sweet) and he talked to me like I was 3 years old and just rushed me and said “a basic latte isn’t sweet” when my question was if any of the flavored ones weren’t as sweet…So basically no help at all. I ended up getting the Flannel Shirt latte and it’s kinda sweet but tolerable. There were also hardly any tables open, so I ended up getting my order to go. The gentleman making coffee was very nice. The other employees not so much. I let him know I would get my order to go and he had no problem letting them know and updated me on the status. I could see in the back though that the employees were whispering and looking out into the café like there was some sort of problem with me changing my order to go. Lastly, my eyes were burning the whole wait from whatever onions they were chopping in the back. Overall, the experience was very subpar and I’ve had better at other family owned cafés. The food was probably the only good thing about it. I’ll just stick to Latte Lounge and my local Starbucks 👌🏽

I had the pancakes with bacon and hot chocolate, my husband had the French toast meal. The portions are HUGE! The food is very tasty and the establishment was clean and cozy and the staff members were friendly. Cute little cafe, would eat here again.
