Was in town for a work conference and came across this lovely spot. Our server was named John and he was kind and did a great job. The food was fresh and flavorful. Top notch spot.
Absolutely fantastic. It’s one of those hidden gems that makes you feel lucky to have found it. The space itself is quaint and full of charm—just the kind of place you want to linger in a little longer.
And the food? Incredible. Some of the best soup we’ve ever had—rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything felt comforting and fresh. We’re already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for something special and low-key, Magpies delivers.

I have been here twice in the last few months. The food is OK and service is mediocre. I was concerned with some of the service today. My friend made a mistake and asked if her drink could have no ice. The waitress said No. She explained she would not want to put her lumpy fingers in her drink to pull out the ice. Yes, the waitress actually said she did not would put her hand in my friends drink and pull out the ice. I don’t think the health department would like that kind of thing going on. My friend is soft spoken and there was no reason for this. I just don’t think it’s a good idea to go to this place where an employee actually thought of doing that to Customers drink.

The food and service are excellent. The outside patio was very scenic but I was hot and wanted AC. inside is small but comfy. They understand gluten-free and our waiter was knowledgeable about what we could eat & what we couldn't. The Gobbler sandwich with gf bun and the spinach strawberry salad were very yummy. They had two (!) gf dessert options. I had the gf brownie with ice cream & my friend had the fudge pie. Both were scrumptious but my brownie was so warm and perfect! We will eat there again when in St. Charles. It is in an old historic building and is the inside dining area is not ADA-compliant but the outdoor patio area is accessible. Plan accordingly.

The salads were surprisingly underwhelming but the rest of the food we ordered was phenomenal! We got a flatbread, the trio of dips, the potato soup with side salad, and a southwest chicken salad. Both salads were very plain and flavorless. The flatbread and potato soup were excellent! I think our favorite was the dip trio, the butter artichoke was fabulous! Fudge brownie was a nice post lunch treat. Absolutely gorgeous patio!

What a beautiful afternoon and what a wonderful lunch! The spinach and artichoke dip was fantastic! Loved the hint of lemon! The quiche and salad was quite tasty and satisfying. The house roast beef looked delicious, though I wasn’t allowed to taste. My husband wasn’t sharing today! We will be back!!!
