"French" bread was undercooked and dense. Roast beef stringy and inedible. Potato soup quite good. Indoors small and cramped without the expected charm, tho patio is lovely.

I visited here with my aunt a few weeks ago and the food was all delicious! We got the cheese bread, potato soup, pepperoni pizza, Turkey sandwich, strawberry crepes ? and the coconut cream pie!! ?Our waitress and the nice hostess were super nice and friendly! ?Parking: It’s on Main Street so there’s street parking for most places. Parking lots are down by the river front and the boat house

Our visit to Magpie's cafe during an evening stroll through the historic streets of St. Charles downtown was a delightful experience. Although the weather was too chilly to enjoy the large patio with fire pit heaters, the cozy interior more than made up for it. As we were entering , another couple leaving mentioned the cafe's excellent desserts. We opted for the vegetarian options and were impressed with the Spinach Artichoke dip, Vegetarian Pasta with creamy white sauce, and the flavorful Mediterranean Flatbread. The small size of the cafe added to its charm, and the server and staff were friendly and attentive. By the time we were done , we were too full to indulge in desserts. This just gives us another reason to return! Overall, a great dining experience, and we look forward to visiting again.

This establishment exudes charm, warmth, and a welcoming atmosphere. I absolutely adore being here. I visited yesterday and savored a generously portioned, meticulously crafted chef salad alongside a delightful cup of lobster bisque soup. Every detail was impeccable. Moreover, their lovely patio will undoubtedly be a delightful spot to frequent come springtime.

Overall pretty disappointing experience as this was highly recommended to us. I think our problem was arriving close to closing time (we arrived at 2:35 and they close at 3). We did ask if it ok to go ahead and order and said we were fine going elsewhere if we were too late. They said we had time so we stayed. We both got half and half's which are a half sandwich and a cup of soup. I got the potato soup which is supposed to be their specialty. It had a good flavor but was barely lukewarm and was pretty congealed so I didn't eat much of it. The beef in the French dip was stringy, tough and overcooked so I didn't eat much of it either. My wife had tomato soup and half a club. She said it had lots of turkey. The dining room is pretty small., maybe six tables or seven tables. Four were occupied including ours and it felt very crowded. Our server wasn't very attentive, but that was because they were closing up. We should have eaten somewhere else and we won't give it another try.

The patio is lovely, and the baked brie is quite delicious as well. Unfortunately, Last nights dinner was a mediocre experience at best. I got the French dip and they served it with cold cheese. In what world would you not melt the cheese on a French dip? It was also served with no exaggeration, 2 tablespoons of "au jus" at best. Literally not even enough for two bites. My friend's pizza was pretty overcooked and borderline on being burnt as well. Just wasn't worth the price of admission last night.

Pretty average. It's really cute and quaint, placed in one of the old buildings on St. Charles' Main Street. The service was excellent, our waiter was kind and friendly but didn't hover. Orders were taken quickly and food came quick (a bit too quick). We sat outside since we had the pup with us. It's winter, close to the holidays, so it's pretty cold. They have it decorated nicely and equipped with gas heaters. The heaters do a bit to keep you warm in the cold, but not quite enough. It was pretty dang chilly. Now the food, while I forget to take pictures, was nothing to brag about and definitely not made to order. You can taste it. It also came out far too quick. It's not bad, but you can definitely find better elsewhere in the area.

We went for dinner and were disappointed that the only dinner menu was pastas. Online menu was different..Everything was good though.Dietary restrictions: Could use a gluten free pasta on the menu.
